Would these alloys be ok?

I've been a bit taken aback by the price of second hand alloys on ebay. I realise they are the best quality but I'm just not sure I care enough to get top of the range wheels. I want a simple, clean set of alloys to replace my steel wheels so would these ex-demo wheels be good enough for what I want?

any advice on alloys in general appreciated :)

either something like this: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 0s453p1487

or this:http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 0s453p1480

I have an E30 so need 4 stud wheels

You need to think about what you want to achieve by fitting alloy wheels. Looks or performance.

IN MY OPINION those ones will probably not have either......

A decent set of steel wheels will actually be lighter and stronger than cheap alloys which may be prone to cracking.....

....BUT the steelies will only work with certain "looks", i.e. they have to be wide as fook - but finding damn wide 'uns will be hard as banded steels are now illegal in this country.

If all you want is some wheels that look nice, save your pennies up and get some Alpina reps or similar, as these do undoubtedly look the nuts and aren't too bad IMO.

If you want alloys that will be lightweight, long-lasting and fantastic looking, then be prepared to fork out some dollar on some BBS 15's or 16 inch splits, Hartge's or genuine Alpinas.

:D

You could consider some Ronal LS wheels, im planning to get these on my E30 (when i get one!), their BBS style wheels and are very good quality and they also have a nice 1'+ dish in them so if you catch them at the right angle they look hot. Brand new there Ԛ£75 each, and for a set with tires balanced etc ive been quoted at Ԛ£570 which isnt bad

Heres some pictures of some cars over in the states that has them (taken from http://www.r3vlimited.com/

They give the car a really nice oldskool look, but are a little bit difernt from your standard 15'bbs sport wheels

thank you for all the advice you are reeling off, I'm digesting it!

The thing is, I'm not sure whether I want those BBS style wheels. I was leaning towards a set of 5 spoke alloys eventhough someone on these forums thought I was mad!

I'll keep looking around, but I was planning on spending a bit less the Ԛ£500!!!

Some 5 spoke wheels are really nice mate, just make sure you get somthing that compliments your car, at the end of the day if you like the look of a certain wheel (as long as it fits right etc) then go for it. All we can do is give you our opinions :)

good luck finding some rims!

Got those Ronal LS on my shortlist of wheels, first time i've actually seen them on a E30, what size do you reckon they are 15" or 16"?

depends on tyre profile

1 had 15" with 55Ԛ´s

mow have 17Ԛ´s with 40

both look good but a 16 with 50 might look niiiice 8)

just as I was coming round to the idea of the Ronal looking wheels these have come up on ebay...what do you all rekon?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 33802&rd=1

How do I find out who made them? Are they likely to be cheap heavy crap? They are exactly the style I was looking for before I started this thread!

I asked the seller and he replied that they were Cosmic wheels. A quick search on the net and I found some nice cosmic wheels, however there were some complaints that they were porous from new? That was on a renault tho! Anyone heard of this make? I really wanna buy them but I don't want them to be a complete waste!
