On my car at the moment, I have what i have been told are Genuine alpinas,
16X8 at the rear
16x7 at the front.
just for future reference how much are these worth?

16x7 and 16x8 do indeed sound like genuine Pinas!
Price depends on condition (as with all things) a set of really shagged ones with no tyres, i duno, i guess at £150.
MINT MINT ones with new Pirellis all round? Another guess at £600-800.
Description of what condition they are in would help and pictures speak a thousand words.
See what u can do and more people will post up.

have they centre caps? locks? as these two items per wheel will set you back silly money per wheel. Are they straight as these wheels buckle easily? refurbed? 8 inch rears mean a higher price will be paid if you sell.
Mint set is worth up to £700 tops but i would expect a set of 5 for that money

cheers, well they arent totaly mint and unblemished, but they arent shagged at all, i diont have a digi cam but i do have couple of pics of car butprobably wont be able to make out the wheels in enough detail to see their bad bits..
il see what i can do...in fact i have a couple of pictures, i mean they arent detailed enough on the wheels to be able to see close enough any blemishes, but i dont know you experts might be able to tell something from it
only got the car on thursday, so im just trying to work out about stuff
sorry if that pics a bit big:S

m-tech 2 front spoiler i see there! all red rear clusters, nastly exhust tail pipes! My opinion of course
How much? what is it?
Posted: Sat Jan 15, 2005 1:58 pm
by Rearwheel_nick
i paid £1450. maybe too much but i had been after one for a while so i dont know im happy with it, yeh i want to replace the rear clusters
the exhaust ok its funnily loud, but the pipes are too big for my tastes. its reallly loud and im not so much into that, il look to changing that at some point, but for the time being il just laugh because when started up it wankes up everything. which is kinda embarassing

Nick, 1450 seems decent price!!!!
That zorst is a bit nasty in my opinion! but thats me.
Do u want a set of rear clusters with the amber indicatoers? if so, i have a set that id trade you for the red ones as an experiment.
email me at
rideordiebuzz@aol.com if youd l;ike to chat more. My rear clusters are original and mint condition too by the way.

the look genuine to me - but that Dirty DTM exhaust really does suck ass.

yeh £1450 i thought was decent
its a 320i shell with a 2.5 engine up front, some lowering springs. but gona go for suspension kit at some point,
Its got 3.9 ratio LSD in between rear wheels
yeh the exhaust is a bit too much for me, i mean i do love straight 6 sound so when i have more cash il have to look into changing it to something that is a bit more sexual to look at but stil gives nice straight 6 tones but without the insane volume!
il email you about the rear clusters,
its not gona go on the road til end of february, i want to get all the jobs done first and by the time im done insurance will be bit more acceptable,
il email you about the clusters. i dont know what id like to do about the rear lights, red tint is maybe not my thing, but im not sure how much il like standard lights
does anyone know what other rear light options ive got aside from red tint and standard?
Posted: Sat Jan 15, 2005 2:51 pm

rear light cluster options include..
sh1te lexus style clear lenses with sh1te red bits sticking out (see BMTOWN for these.
all red
standard with the amber indicators
smoked black. (VERY nasty unless they are the £210 jobbies)...AND IF you can find them!!!
standard or all red look best!

smoked.. would be my choice but i cant pay £210,
oh god i went to BMWTOWN and saw those lexus style things...what the hell were they thinking
il check out my red rears. id like to swap, but im not sure if they have a crack in them or not. il have to find out

Nick, im glad you find the lexus ones as offensive as i do!
Scope your lights out and if they are crack free, i'd be up for an exchange.
Let me know either by email or this thread (i keep my subscription on)

[quote="Rearwheel_nick"]smoked.. would be my choice but i cant pay £210,
Go for a set of standard lamps and spray them with black laquer..

shame no one makes the rear lens red with clear indicator..
that would be tasty..

OmiHemps did a photoshop of that. It did indeed look "tasty"
If you decide you wanna spray tint a set of standard lights nick, get back to me.

Nice looking car you got yourself there mate, good price too, especially with the Alpina's and LSD too! Bonus that somebody has done the 2.5 conversion for you too, saves you the hassle!

Nice car

Yeah its the full scorpion system that i removed from my car cause of the sheer bellow it made. I got a Powerflow midbox and the Scorpion back and it sounds nice now

DTM tailpipes arent too bad i kinda like theo ones on mine but they wouldnt be "my" choice if it were mine!

wil u wanna swap rear scorpions??

Hmm interesting
Altho recently ive found the DTM pipes kinda cool, when u turn the ignition off on a cold day they smoke upwards like barrels of a gun lol!

My car smokes ...but thats cos it needs new idle control valve unit thingy
yeh it is a nice car but dont be fooled by the pictures, there is a couple of sports of rust, the central locking is messed up at the moment, the passenger side lock needs to be fixed(attempted break in before i got it)
and the window opener on the rear passenger side is missing..
cloth recaros inside though so nice:)
yeh when more important stuff is done and i have spare cash, il look into the exhaust.
whats some recomendations for. Nice duno aggresive sound but without the crazy bellow i get from my current system? kinda worried im gona be setting off car alarms driving past.

yeah a full on Scorpion is seriously loud but the worst part imo is they make a hollow tinny noise in the cabin at around 3k rpm so it makes crusing almost unbareable! From what ive heard i "think" its cause all the stuffing is blown out the midbox for whatever reason so its almost totally hollow, just changing the midbox will shut it up
Some ppl love the noise they make but it seems you and i dont
If your in the Sout East of England and can go to the Stevenage meet in Feb i could show u what mine sounds like, Powerflow midbox and Scorpion rear.

im in the midlands,
the car isnt on the road at the moment, when im 20 at end of next month insurance is more bareable., plus got to wait to get rid of company car thing first so im using this time for jobs,
yeh i mean after picking it up on thursday, i immediately noticed how godamn loud it was. i mean its ok with me for the time being cos its my first quick car and its nicer to hear an incredibly loud straight 6 petrol than the diesel ive been driving about in, but i know once im doing regular driving the general boominess will probably pee me off a lil

Nick, if u find the boominess of the zorst to be a problem, try a company called Larini!!! They did a zorst for me for my sport. Its gorgeous, but much quieter than a scorpion or anything like that.

by Rearwheel_nick
larini oh yeh ive heard of them and heard some of their stuff on other marques.. was nice,
how much was it?

i went for their "standard" system. This is a copy of BMWs original design, but made in stainless steel. The internals are top quality and the whole system weighs a fcuking ton!!! The thickness of the material is incredible! The quality of the workmanship equally impressive!
The "standard" system includes back box, centre box and downpipes. That was £360+vat and postage.
Total including vat and postage was £481 Thats not cheap I admit, but for the quality you get i wouldnt even think twice about getting a new one! id just order the fcuker! Im THAT impressed!
I would honestly reccommend Larini to ANYONE with an e30 that wanted their stainless zorst to be quieter.
No association yada yada yada!
They also make a "sports" system that has larger tail pipes that allows 9-15bhp extra when coupled with their 6branch manifold. The sports system is the same price and the 6brancher is also pretty reasonable price wise.
Every exhaust design they make is tested on a car before they say "yes, we make them" Thats why you wont find a larini for an aston db9 - coz no1 has given them a DB9 that needs a new zorst yet! Their zorsts dont ressonate at cruising speeds! They specifically test for this.
This was the factor that "SOLD" me on Larini.
