Coax have the tweeters sat in front of the speaker cone, components have them seperate. Generally, components are preferable, but more expensive.

What size speakers are you going for? You're not going to get anything all that fancy for Ԛ£35, your best bet is probably to go into a shop & see what sounds best to you... You might find something on special offer if you're lucky :thumb:

& look at Paul's ICE article in the tech section!

I TRIED TO PUT SOME 6 x 9'S IN THE SHELF, MADE A RIGHT FECKIN MESS OF IT, SO IVE DECIDED TO GET SOME NORMAL SIZED SPEAKERS, THERE ARE SOME BARGAINS ON EBAY BUT I WASNT SURE WHICH ONES TO GO FOR, NOT REALLY INTO MEGA LOUD SYSTEMS, IM THINKING OF A CHEAPY 10" SUB AND SOME CHEAPY SPEAKERS FOR THE SHELF, THAT SOULD OK FOR ME I THINK?

If you're looking to keep it cheap, why bother with speakers in the back at all? You ain't going to be sitting there...
& you're very unlikely to find a sub, box, amp & wiring for Ԛ£35, even without the cheapy rear speakers!

What have you got in the front? & what headunit have you got?

ive got a half decent sony mp3 player and standard bmw speakers, ive just sold my rs turbo which had the 6X9's on the shelf with a bridged 10"sub in the boot, it sounded really good considering what i payed, if the volume was on say about med the quality of the sound was great, i meant 35 quid for the coaxial speakers, will spend about 20-30quid on a 10"sub, that is what they seem to be going for on ebay, already got the amp-box.

while youre there, i have wired up the sterio but it seems to keep loosing its memory each time the car is turned off, any ideas? there is a yellow and red power cables from the head unit and i have found that the bm has 1 red 12v cable

I'd go for some better speakers in the front, fitted as per the ICE guide... You can always get some rears later, or make some pods to fit the 6x9s with.

& get that 10" sub, firing through the ski hatch, & you're laughing. I'd make sure you go for a half decent brand though - there really is some tat out there, & it seems to migrate towards eBay!

Sounds like the red wire in the car is only live when the ignition's on; you need to find a permenant live for the memory too - the one from the cig lighter should do it... Wouldn't like to say which colour should be which on your headunit though.
