E30 Zone

morning folks.

finally decided to do something about the non working fag lighter in my e30.
it's not worked all the 14yr's i've had the car,

so i've decided to go down the route of fitting a usb port in it's place so i can use a dashcam in the car,

thing is the wiring for the lighter is working perfectly & seeing as i don't smoke in the car it made sense.

has anyone else done this?

Good idea but for a dashcam I wired mine into the power for the check panel as its right where you'd have a dashcam. I used a garmin Mini dashcam and it works perfectly. Probably easier than running a cable from the cig lighter

I hard wired my dash cam but also added a double aux power socket with two USB ports in my glovebox.

i've been thinking of hard wiring a dash cam in But my idea with the cig lighter/usb port is so i can use my sat nav & charge my phone.

off to have a look for a hard wire kit for the dashcam....................
