Old School Alpine Ice Cube query.

89 convertible 320i.
The car from new only had front speakers/stereo cassette radio which has stopped working again, and mice have recently found the speaker cones very palatable. So, I intend to install, as ”˜old school’ as possible, 4 speaker system with door tweeters. I have bought an Alpine Ice Cube 7292MS cassette radio which, I think was originally in a Lamborghini.
The wiring loom has all the expected connectors for speakers, live/hot, live/ignition, dimmer, etc, etc, but also has a female 8 pin cd connector and two RCA Connectors, one red, one white.
Two queries: I need new speakers, suggestions please, don’t really want to stray too far from the original spec and; what might the RCA connectors be for? Layman’s language please.
I’m not too fussed about a CD changer.

The speakers are hidden so won't be on view to overload any OCD symptoms you may be suffering from.

I upgraded my speakers in my convertible and also my sons convertible to Ground Zero's as recommended to me by Ian Pinder years back (AKA Iceman) do you have the door tweeter pods?

Thanks for the Ground Zero suggestion, presumably these are all four speakers? I don’t have the door tweeter pods, I thought I would research a scheme ”˜on paper’ and then if I felt I could make it work I would search for the appropriate bits. I quite like looking for rare parts. It’s all a bit crackers really, when the original stereo was playing, with the aerial extended the wind noise howling round it obliterated any 2 speaker system anyway. I read the RCA jacks might feed a low power signal to an amp, which might boost the base. You sound as if your systems tick lots of boxes.

Speak to boomerm20 as I bought a set of pods from him for my son but I think you can buy them new from BM.

GZ did a kit, fronts with tweeters and crossovers just get a pair for the rear, I cut in to the aerial cable and placed a switch in the console so it didn't raise the aerial when listening to MP3's sometimes you need to move forward with the times.
