Time to ditch the original speakers and get something a bit more modern. Can someone recommend a set (front and rear for a touring) for around the £80 - £100 mark? Also, what size are the rear speakers, is it 10cm? Thanks.

Hey. I went for 13cm (standard) Mac Audio Street speakers in the front and 10cm (standard for rear speaker pods) Hertz Dieci 100.3 in the back. I chose them because of their higher sensitivity ratings, given my weak, but very pretty, head unit - blaupunkt heilbronn sq39. Nothing like components/amp set up of course, but then that's not what I was after, and it works pretty well for me!

For the front: Pioneer TS-E131Ci component (can fit the tweeters in pods in the front or fit flush in the triangles behind mirror.) £89.99 from Amazon.
Got a Pioneer 4 channel amp in the boot too.

I got Mac Audios all round in mine and so has my brother in his mk2 golf, they are reasonable priced and pretty good quality for the price. I think the brand had some cred back in the 80's from what some people have told me, but I had never heard of them, if look online and shop around you can get all for for 50-60 quid, which I think is worth it, but im sure if you shop around you can get a good set which will always be much much better than the aging original ones you have.
