Autochanger Location

Hi all, hope we are well? I'm wanting to install an autochanger into my E30. Years ago when I had them I always had them fitted in the boot under the parcel shelf area, however lately I have seen some people with them fitted in the glove compartment. What's the pros and cons of each please? What's involved in running it to the boot of a 4 door saloon? What has to be removed in order to run the cable in each scenario? Cons are obviously the loss of most of the glovebox.
Easiest way to run cables to the boot area is to remove both centre consoles (easy) and the rear seat base (even easier), then run the cables on top of the transmission tunnel, threading it under the last short section of carpet, then across the rear seat pan, back above the wheel arch and into the boot.
The 'correct way', as shown in the BMW dealer installation instructions is along the LH inner sill, but I've come across many cases where this has been ignored, and the cables run back the middle instead.
