Period audio options

Evening all,

The modern Sony in my car plays CDs but no radio. Didn't work for the previous owner either. If I'm going to change it out, I don't fancy a silver fascia and flashing neon disco lights.

So, does anyone know the head units available in the late 80s and early 90s? Can you get them? Are they junk compared to current tech? I like the idea of some thing a little retro or original than going all modern and council.

Thoughts....?

Hunt for a nakamichi cd35 / 45. They look mint in an e30. Have one myself. Just ensure he lights are amber

Green is cool too though I guess Amber matches the E30 lighting better.

Any pictures of the Nak, Mr Singh?

That does look good Mitchen. Having seen an example I think I'm veering towards something a little newer. Maybe. Lol

Kudos to your work though, great effort.

Also interested in this. Preferably with a USB port so I can charge my phone whilst I play tunes off it :D

I've gone for a new pioneer as it really needed a cd player and I love Dab radio. Plus it has multicoloured display which I can make all orange to match the interior electrics.

Old thread I know but you can consider building a radio into your glove compartment. I did. Put in a 1din compartment instead of the original radio. New Pioneer has bluetooth so I can just control it with my phone... Looks tidy
