Hi guys, just wanted to know if this will work
http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -23865.htm
As the e30 is quite a long car, will that 15.5ft (~5M) power cable reach an amp in the boot if the battery is in the front.
Also similar length 5M RCA cable from headunit to amp, is this cable long enough?
Cheers.

Yes, that will be plenty. The E30 is a fairly long car but its not going from end to end, your battery sits just below the window screen and I'm assuming the cable is heading to the boot, which amps are usually located at the back of the boot so your only actually looking at traveling half the car...
Plently.

Yeah should be fine, They do provide you with a lot of speaker cable which you really don't need but at least you'll have some spare.
Remember to run the Battery cable down one side of the car, the RCA Leads down the opposite side and if possible the remote down the centre, that should eliminate any crossover of signal etc, best way is battery down the right side (since the battery is on the right), RCA down the Left, and the remote lead down the centre console, under the carpet and under the rear seat bench. The hardest part is normally finding a good earth point in the boot but that should be easy on an E30.

alright great mate, that will be a lot of help
am i correct in thinking that the remote cable goes from headunit to amp, and it tells the amp to switch on only when the ignition is on?
Cheers, will get that ordered.

Hi, just ordered the kit...
So i can fit it, is it best to run the 12v live from battery to amp through the grommet which the engine wiring loom goes through the bulkhead...this is on a 316i btw.
Cheers

The remote cable goes from the headunit to the amp, yes. I had issues when installing mine and had to wiring the remote turn on to else where. But it worked in the end.
As for the 12V live, yes, run it through the grommet which the engine loom comes into the car, when running the cable under the carpet, try to keep it away from any speaker cables as it may effect the sound once all installed.

one more quick question, shall i get rid of the little ski hatch thing to improve the sound?
Cheers

Not sure about the ski hatch thing... I have a sub in the boot facing the rear seats and it sounds spot on where it is without any modding.
I think its down to preference with that bit fella. Good luck though.

Alright cheers mate for the help
So did you leave the massive plastic cover on your car which covers the ski hatch bit?
I think the bass should be enough even with all the hatch in, just thought that cos its a saloon it may be inhibited by this.

Mine was left in, but it still sounds good, the bass comes through just enough and the boot keeps it in. If you open the boot with it on, you can hear the difference it makes etc.
If I was you, install it and see how it sounds, if you wanted more bass, try and remove the cover but i'm not sure it would make that much improvement.

Not at all mate, always good to get the advise before hand.
From memory, I earth it on the passenger side of the boot wall, there was a screw thread sitting there so managed to get a bolt to go onto that. Whether its correct is a different matter but hasnt blown up yet
