Hi there zoners just a quick question here ...

I am after a good set of front speakers for my e30.. i am not after somewhat of 200 to 500 pound speakers just for the front ... my budget is around 50pounds and i would like something decent as i already have 6*9’s on the rear shelf.
I have cine across these and was wondering are they any good has anybody tried these out ?

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -19737.htm

if not are there any i should look out for. Im just in need of something good enough on a budget that has the quality yet not too expensive.

Never tried them myself, but they seem to have a few good reviews!!

Let us know if you try them!!!!

Alternatively, keep your eyes peeled for some good second hand speakers!! You'll get something 5 times as good for the same money - if you're prepared to wait a bit and look around (I know, i'm impatient too!!!).
I'm keeping my eyes in the for sale section of the talkaudio forum for bits at the mo!!! Those guys know they're stuff!!

You'll need to know how "Shallow" the speakers are, as some will not fit in the footwells.

hi Rav yes upon taking the old 1's out i can clearly see i have not much space for the magnet of the new speakers to be big.

However hooked on this car audio site i have been looking around and called them up spoke to them and they said these should fit with the existing wires being behind it with plenty of space for clearance.

The 2 he has mentioned are:

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -25625.htm = £100.00

&

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -19737.htm = £40.00

he said both of which have crisp sound quality and are about near enough the same power outputs. In fact the cheaper out the 2 has an advantage as it has 97db 1w/1m where as the more expensive one has only 90db 1w/1m.

I questioned him why was there such a price gap between the two? he answered and said mate frankly the expensive pair has just released and that just because it is new you are paying for the newness however the less expensive ones are just the next model down to the new 1's, and for the ”aprice vs quality”a you cannot go wrong with the cheaper set.
The more expensive set has a ultra slim neodymium magnet attached which is very small space saving.

oh and guys on the rear shelf i have 6*9's which are a dual core 2-way speakers. 240max watts.

what to do ??

so just looking for some mid range base and clear vocal speakers for the front before i go ahead and get a sub for the boot. winkeye

regards

Ask him for the depth on the speakers, just for peace of mind more than anything else, because if the magnet is too close to the wing area you'll get interference in sound. :D

No pics of my setup, never bothered to take any, but i'm running JBL's in the rear's of the cab, and some half decent componens up front, which i'm going to change to a better set up.
And 2x12" in a custom box in the boot :D

I personally would stay away from VIbe, if those prices are correct and go for what the OP posted up.

myself, and a few other zoners, have vibe slick 50s in, around £30/40 a set from memory and just fit straight in and sound excellent for the money with a head unit and no amp, have 4 of those in the standard speakers holes (no extra component bits etc) and a pre amped sub box that can easily be taken out when not needed with no trace, and sounds good for the money spent, around £140 for the 4 speakers and sub it was

Problem is you have 6x9's in the rear shelf so your never gonna find cheap 13inch front speakers that will sound right as they will always be drown out by the 6x9's.

I've said it a thousand times on here major school boy error fitting 6x9's in the back of any car unless you have big powerfull front speakers to match.

Imy, it's Sutton Coldfield, and it's in birmingham :D

And my reason for not paying for Vibe is that there are plenty of top brands on offer at the same or slightly cheaper prices, and have a better quality of sound output.

Vibe for volume, but better sq is available for similar money!! Although i've heard a vibe demo car that sounded very good!!!

I've currently cot some Rainbow 5.25" coax in the front footwells of my touring, with two old school Orion XTR-12 subs in the boot!!! All powered off an old 4ch Orion HCCA amp!!! Sounds reasonable, considering they're not even screwed in properly!!!
The rainbows only cost me about £30 off ebay and were more like £130 new!!!

I've used DLS 2 way components up front aswell - love the DLS SQ, but they were Reference at around the £200 mark i think!!

Had JL 6x9's in my old 2 door and they were proper loud!! Deffo drowned out the fronts and i got rid of them after a few months!! Found the treble very harsh!!!

I would honestly say that with an E30, you're better off getting some slightly cheaper (or second hand but quality, imho) speakers up front and put the time/money into getting them fitted properly!!
I honestly reckon a bit of soundproofing behind and around them, a slim baffle and a touch of sealant, so they are properly seated, would make a world of difference to any speakers up front!!!
None of the aftermarket stuff i've tried has fitted properly - i.e. made a proper seal between front and rear when fitted (all bodged in by me to be fair!! Lol!!)

You won't even need rears if you do it properly!! :D

Now there's some proper stuff there.
My amp in the cab is nearly 20 years old, DAP600 and the subs TSW302 the same age, and I have some old skool TSE2088's tucked away too.
New stuff doesn't last or sound as good as a very good established manufacturer.
