Hi,

I'm installing a arm rest to my E30 and was wondering if anyone out there has done the same.

Any pictures will be much appreciated.

I've bought a second hand one. It's like new. After having a compact with a armrest I was after one for my touring.

You need to remove the rear portion of the centre console and undo the handbrake fixing bolts. Slide the lhs bracket under then tighten it up. Should fit without cutting the carpet.

Assemble the thing up and mark where the 4 bolt holes on the rhs bracket fall against the side of the rear potion of the centre console. There's a reinforcment piece that goes inside that the bolts go into.

I sold one with instructions to darlow. Maybe he can help?

Worked like a charm however it does get a bit in the way of the hand brake.

Heres my aftermarket armrest, installed by myself. Never had to cut anything, just drilled some holes through the back of the centre console.

They are like the aftermarket mini ones you can get, are they the ones that lift up out of the way too?

If so i think i may have to get one of these myself, although the original ones don't look too great, they have cup holders which i really need (red bull or coffee every morning on the way into the office, need all the help i can get first thing lol).

I assume i will need to remove my cassette holder to fit this aftermarket one?

has anyone thought about a E36 or E46 one?
it seems the hand brake is on the opposite side to the E30
im only familiar with RHD cars but it looks like (from ebay pics) that LHD cars are opposite... is this correct?..

lhd is the same, handbrake is in the same position, so you are on the left and the handbrake is closer to you (my 2dr is a lefty).

Only difference is the top part of the dash, gear knob, handbrake, ash tray/lighter all the same whether its LHD or RHD.

too much work getting an E36 etc to fit for me, after a bolt/screw on one, ideally with cup holders, saves having a crappy plastic one on the door card held in place by the window. black interior, dark grey carpet and a crappy light grey drinks holder hanging from the door card, classy or what, lol.
