Will it have enough juice?

My friend wants to run a 2800watt amp to power 3 subs 1500watt each and a 1500watt amp to power a pair of 1000watt 6*9's.
He ask me to install it but ive told him he'll always have battery problems, with lack of power.
What farad power cap could help or would bigger battery and alternator be required.
Any ideas?

From going on the audio forums, they always slate the power caps as all they do is hold back power in general and then one part struggles it then gives it the extra bit its been holding back. So your best bet would be to get him to upgrade his battery and altenator.

The wattage you have stated, i assume that will be MAX power? whats the RMS off each componant?
If the above is rms, then first start would be to use very good power cabels, zero gauge will be best and also a good battery.

In thats case, the RMS wont be that much and you should be fine, as long as the battery is good and you use the correct cable

Re the cap
1farad per 1000watts is the general rule
Split charging and seperate battery(s) is the only way to alleviate any issue with power supply

3 woofers, good to know the ohmage of the woofers, the make of the amp and the make of the other equipment too.
3 woofers can give u 1.33ohms or much less depending on the coil configuration, and not all amps can handle that.

Does depend on the amps you use and what load is on them, but i would say you'll be fine!! (Should tell you in the amp docs what power they will draw so you can work it out!!) Max power values are worthless marketing dribble!!!!
Worst case, a decent amp will shutoff/trip at low voltage and you can bring the gains down until you've uprated the battery!!!
As said, you'll want decent cables/fuses/etc.
You'll be surprised what you can run from a standard alternator on most cars!!
Power caps aren't as worthwhile as people think - last restort stuff in my book that most people will never need!!
If, if he has a problem, bigger, or additional battery next!!
I will be running 2000watts or so, RMS, on a standard batt/alt, when (if

) i get my stuff set up how i want it!! And i play hard!!!
Back to my Nakamichi/JL/DLS dreams!!
