make some sort of ring on the boot and a hook mechanism in the trunk and run a cable to under your dash or summit.

I had that soilenoid thing for opening the boot in my old 2 door E30, cause i replaced the numberplate and delocked it.
Still have the car here, i'll take some pics of it tonight.

My digi cam doesn't work, i'll try to borrow one asap.
The lock and the mechanism that opens the boot can be taken apart into 2 pieces.
The lock is just the black thing and the shiny round thing you see on the outside, it pushes a lever in the copper-like mechanism that opens the boot.
You can remove the lock with a 10mm wrench, but you do have to remove the entire thing first.
Don't remember how exactly..
When you get the whole thing out, there are 2 10mm bolts that holds the lock onto the rest.
Remove the lock, put the rest back in your E30, and push the lever in the hole.. Tada your boot opens!
You have to operate the lever with the solenoid..
And if you want to go a little bit futher, put a spring (or install an Autoloc doorpopper) on the boot lid, and if you have the M-tech 2 spoiler springs for the lid, but no spoiler, your boot pops open when you press a button..

You can use the pump thingies that holds the boot open in a cab aswell.
Ps, sorry for the English, don't know a lot of the technical words..

The popper in the boot already is for the central locking. I used a different one.
Finally got some pic's aswell:
Test setup.. It worked great.
Just finished delocking it here.
With the M-tech II kit on.
The old one, with a M-tech I bumper.
Never got around to painting that bumper..

Sorry to hijack the thread..
i have also a flushed back and delocked boot on my 325i cab... its a late mtec 2... now the problem im having is that the solenoid is buggered or something....and the boot does not open with the remote... and as far as i can see there is no manual release. So can anyone advise on how to pop it open?? Is there a way to get through from the under the hood cover??
many thanks

There is a way to prevent this - all you have to do is lead a wire from the "+" of the battery somewhere out of the car - under the boot or somewere else. Then isolate the end of the wire so it cannot touch anything and create a short circuit. In case of emergency just cut off the isolation, attach + from another battery to the wire, "-" to any of body pannels and ur done.
