Where to put speakers???

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers to get some good sound. I've already changed both footwell speakers to a set of vibe. The sound has improved but I would like to fit another set of speakers. I just want to know where else can speakers be put? I don't want to fit them into the parcel shelf as it'll look sh!t......

So has anyone got any other ideas. I was also thinking about getting some speaker pods for the doors but I've been told it'll sound crap as all the sound will be towards the front of the car.....

Any ideas????

How hard would it be to make something similar to this but for a smaller speaker and a bit more subtle???

You don't want too many sources for the music as well , becuase then you introduct things like phase shift and cancellation into the equation, the stock locations for the E30 are one of the best in the market, why do you feel you need to add more , could it be that you need to either amplify what you have or the phasing is out on what you have or perhaps the speakers you have are not adequate to what you want.

so in simple terms, what are you trying to achieve and why do you feel your current set up is not adequate.

Thanks

Why can't you put them in the rear shelf? Looks much more original with new speakers hiding under period covers as well. :D

Get some tweeters with oem pods for the front doors.

Good quality speakers in the OE locations will sound much better than cheap larger speakers forced in to place they really shouldnt be, i currently have some 13cm Alpine type E's which are running via an amp and sound OK but all being well i will soon be upgrading to these, the best 13cm speakers on the market.............

I'm going for components up front and some coax in the rear

to make some pods for some 5.25 or 6.6 inch components i would think about £50 of materials and a weekend if youve not done much fibreglassing, you can buy them but they are silly money,£200+ !!

that said theres a lot to making decent sound, are you sure both speakers are wired up to the same polarity, well secured and sealed against the mounting surface?

Those are nice , but if they the best on the market is debatable and you would hear lots of reasons for and againt them in the end we all have a brand prefrence and it comes down to what you can afford and what will work.

the terrible part of the E30 is that you are limited to 5in speakers in the front, but the right set of 5in speakers can sound fantastic , with the right amount of amplification and the correct set up.

To me the best 5in speakers are

having measured up my tourer(i gather the footwells are very similar of not exactly the same)you could also easily make an adaptor plate to put 6 and a half inch speakers in the original spots, anything can fit,it all depends what you are after

Don't get me wrong the sound quality has definitely improved by putting in the new speakers but I would like to put another set in to get even better sound. I just don't like the look of speakers in the parcel shelf......can look a bit council if not done properly. So i just wanted to know is there any other place, maybe hidden somewhere or rear door cards??? :?

adding more speakers wont improve the quality of the sound,it will make it louder, providing you have enough power to drive them

Understood. But by adding more speakers of better quality will improve the overall sound.

I think more a case of adding better quality speakers which are amplified will improve the sound..

no that will give you a muddled sound,as the post above says, one decent set of speakers setup and installed well with relevant power will sound far superior to three or more sets of speakers all fighting each other

if you want quality sound sell the vibes and buy something really good,im not saying the vibes are bad but a sound quality speaker they are never going to be.

for sq you want to look for brands like genesis, focal,mb quart, rainbow, seas, hybrid audio technologies,JL AUDIO,cdt

those are just a few of the brands that come into the bracket of sound quality speakers

Soundproofing???

Soundproof behind/around those front speakers, make sure they're well sealed into their enclosures.

What amp are you using?? Or are you expecting miracles from a h/u??

As said above - you don't want extra speakers - that won't get you any better quality!!!!

All i have is a set of rockford power components now running off a rockford amp in custom footwell builds. subs are comming soon. It sounds really good, if u get the staging right, sound deaden properly and invest in good speakers like hertz, rockford, diamond, dls etc. you wont need any more speakers. trust me!!!
