depends on the reason for stretch. Stretch is applicable when you wish to fit wiiide wheels and they protrude from the arch. Stretched tyres is to make the tread part of the tyre inside the arch, thus abiding with the law. So, if your wheels do not protrude and you fit stretched tyres, it looks daft, there is no point.

My opinion is stretching tyres for the sake of it is daft. There is a reason.

it also extremely compromises the sidewall strength of the tyre making it far easier for the tyre to come off. it also leaves a lovely lip to damage on potholes and gouge on kerbs. im not a fan of it just for safetys sake.

Prove they are more likely to come off.

It is a myth in reality. If they aren't popping off with drifters using them, they aren't going to pop off on the road.

I stretched some tyres onto a mates golf (and a biiig stretch at that) and there has never been a problem, and he doesn't pansy around either on our very bumpy roads.

as above, its a myth that tyres come off easily when streched,i watched drifting at llandow on saturday ,95% of the cars had stretched tyres and none came off

Yeah i heard that there is actually a benefit using stretched tyres, less tyre roll and stiffer sidewall?

makes grip breakaway much more aggressive aswell. i wouldnt fit them just for that. ok for drifting but why drive a road car with tyres that have no give because they are stretched so much.

its all internet hype, stretched tyres are fine, i've driven on them and abused them and never had a single problem

my mates running 205/45/16 on a 10j its a big stretch and again no problems

if it is so unsafe why do the prodrifters go into corners at speeds of around 100mph and go sideways at impossible angles and their tyres dont pop off?

they do pop off, just you dont see that in edited videos, ive seen stretched tyres sidewalls falling to bits a few times now that is why i am so against them, one of my m8s back left gave way and it could have ended very nasty, funnily enough he now runs the correct width tyres..

fact is that stretching tyres damages the kevlar and steel bands inside the tyre sidewall making them very weak, most drifters run small stretches not stupid stretches that for some reason people think looks cool,
just my opinion but i honestly dont think that a big lip of youre rim sticking out looks cool,

if youre tyre protrudes the are roll the arch, simple as, much better and meaner look and stance without the safety issues.

thats my two cents, but if you like stretched tyres run them as you wish lol. just saying i wouldnt be caught dead with them on.
