I'm after some new 5.25" speakers, 4 all together, and wondered what people had in there car or would recommend?

Currently leaning towards Alpine as they are usually well recommended......

I have vibe components in the front and some cheap shite in the back really need some decent ones in the back so I'll be watching this thread from some inspiration.

Alpines from Halfords for £39.99 a pair are great Ollie. I've had them in one of my Clios and now in the BMW.

It's funny Laurence because those are the exact speakers I was looking at today, and have just found them for £29.99 a pair, so that's what I'm leaning to atm.

Listening to the ripspeed and other cr4ppy makes made them look really good.

Infinity Coaxials in the back, Infinity components up front - very impressed.

any suggestions for ones in the back of a cab? i have some kenwoods but the magnets are too big so they touch the bodywork

I'm rocking out with some Vibe BlackHex 6

ive had lots of different ones i several bmws now but the infinitys by far have been the best all round not to sharp on the vocals and good bass
some tweeters can over power everything else

Alpine and Mb Quarts up front powered by a Denon dca800 in the tourer
Mb Quarts comps in the rear

Depends on your budget, obviously, but i love the DLS stuff!!!!

Also, got a great pair of Rainbow's in the front of mine at the mo, which were a bargain secondhand on ebay!!!!!!! Think they were about £130 new and i paid about £30!!!

Well I haven't gone for 4 matching speakers, but a pair of each of these,

I've got a set of Infinities which I STILL haven't got round to fitting

Focals or Pioner PRS.

DLS makes good stuff too. Rockford Fosgate or even MB quart, but please not Vibe.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread. I'm not bothered about loud.....but what would your recommendations be for QUALITY of sound? So that you can pick out each instrument etc. (If that makes sense).

personally i wouldnt touch used i.c.e its asking for trouble ollie get em sent back mate and save a few more pennies dude.that really sux

Alpine imo if you're going down a non-amped route. I couldn't be happier with mine and I can have them at any loudness(as long as I can't hear the diff whining )

The last system me and a theatre sound engineer built was a 3K rig in a converted coach.
bought all the speakers loose (emenance?) from mapplin then using all the specs from the paperwork
my mate built then tuned the boxes with different size and length ports.
then again this was nearly15 years ago.

I use an old skool 2ch Rockford PunchHD series for subs and an old 4ch Power series for rear fill.
The ones that were made back in the good old days when Rockford only used decent components,were conservatively rated,were happy driving 1 ohm loads all day and never needed repairing.

The good old Denon 6 ch massages the 3 way comp setup in the front.
All actively crossed though a 6 ch Kenwood with an Alpine parametric EQ and time alignment
