ive just got a 15" vibe pulse pt150 sub,
Does anyone know if it should be in a ported box on not?
just that it sounds a bit pants, (the box its in is not ported at the moment)
my jbl 10" sub sounds better.
thanks in advance..

you can port it if u want. . . but the box has to be made according to the subs peformance. (watts, ohms etc.) the bass will be alot lower.

Your amp.... is it powerful enough to tickle your sub? I swapped my 12" 400wrms for a 10"(space being the factor) 150wrms and it seems to be much louder than the 12"er . Also, as E30Gav said you need your box dimensions to be exact for the spec of your sub. Post some pics of you system when done

I think most of the boxes vibe's are normally sold and demo'd with are ported!!
Ported boxes can be louder and a well made one will sound good.
A sealed box should sound decent too though - is it a good box? Right size for that sub?
As above aswell - what's the amp like???
Not a dual voicecoil sub is it??

*slowly puts his hand up*
SO many factors affect how a woofer performs, enclosure is 1 part of it, other aspects are the amplifer, the load and cross over settings. The woofer that you buy also makes a difference with some being true SUB-woofers and others being just woofers, not a huge fan of the Vibes but you should be able to get some specs from their website on what is optimal for that woofer.
Going from a 10 to a 15 is a huge jump , what are you missing from the 10 that the 15 does not have.

What music do you listen to?
I can go into geek mode if you want but it's easier to ask the above question.
also, what amp are you running?
