Could someone recommend a setup for me?

Hi guys - I am stumped!
I want to get a decent setup for the motor, ideally consisting of front speakers & tweeters, a pair of 6x9's and an 8 or 10" sub.
Dont want the thing to shake my car apart, want decent quality sound.
Could I use my head unit to run my 6x9's and then an amp to run the sub and the front speakers? (I know pretty much nothing about this!)
Could someone list a setup I could get for around £400 (ex head unit)
Thanks guys!

i would run everything from the amp if you have one installed especially if you are spending £400 pound

Nice little 10" sub and some nice components up front are all you need and could be run off the same amp.
I really wouldn't bother with 6x9's - or any rears at all - especially if you're on a budget!!
What sort of music do you listen to??
Has the £400 budget got to include the fitting, or are you going to do it yourself??

Will be fitting myself (with a mate!) - ok with wiring just not too hot on products and power ratings etc. Found a few alpine bits, just wondered if this would work - as you can see I have put this together logically, with power figures taken at face value - but dont know if these power figures add up, or if there is more to it than just matching power ratings?
Want to fit 6x9s as I already have some busted ones in my parcel shelf, so thought I may as well bung some new ones in.
Music wise its very varied, like rock through to hip hop and drum and bass, bit of everything really! (I know thats not too much help!)
Anyway, the possible setup -
Alpine SPE-69C2 2-way 210 Watts 6x9
RMS Power 35W (run off head unit)
Alpine MRP-F550 1000 Watts 4/3/2 Channel Power Amplifier
4 x 90W RMS (4ohms, 14.4V, 0.08% THD)
Alpine SPR-13S 13cm Component Speakers 300 Wtts
RMS Power: 100W
2 x Alpine SWE-843E 400 Watts 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer
RMS Power: 120W

You could make a setup, as you say, with the kit you have!!
Use two channels off the amp to run the front components.
Other 2 channels to run the subs!!
Even has seperate crossovers built in for both pairs (set up the low pass for the sub and then the high pass for the fronts).
Easy peasy!!!!
Can also put the 6x9's in the back and run them off the h/u if you want - but it's worth trying it without them. Even if you're set on putting them in, have a listen with them connected and another listen with them disconnected - you might be surprised!!!!!

i work in car audio as i sure some other on here do too i would advise you dont buy the 6x9s simply cos your looking at the pants ones for a start.
Alpine SPE-69C2 2-way 210 Watts 6x9 =
POOP get type S ones if you can or dont get 6x9s
Alpine MRP-F550 1000 Watts 4/3/2 Channel Power Amplifier =
nice amp
Alpine SPR-13S 13cm Component Speakers 300 Wtts =
lovely speaker but will definately need amping and the magnets are pretty big but that should not matter i doubt on a bm
2 x Alpine SWE-843E 400 Watts 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer =
yet more type E, unless you want real budget avoid this range get the type s and get a single 12" for the same kind of money as 2 type E's
If you wanted to do it right spend 100-150 on the fronts component preferably but a good co-ax is ok and less work to fit.
Then get a good 4 channel amp to run them and the sub/subs single 12" is always a good bet spend about 100-200 the amp is where you could save a little if you hide it no one will no its not a huge power block even the fli (made by vibe) is ok for power and they are nice and cheap! to satifsy the extra you might hvae spent on the speakers.
Rears not sure about an e30 but if its the same as my rears then a pair of co-ax 13cm will drop right in and make up some nice backing spend about 50-80 and tha should be ok for them.
do it right the first time with a 4 gauge kit for power the autoleads kits are 35 quid so not expensive and then if you up the size and power of the amp you wont need to re-run cables.
make sure to run 3 sets of rcs/phonos to the old skoolers, you might only use 2 but running the 3rd means the job is done if you want to add a mono amp for the sub later.
hope i have helped a little??

Cool, thanks for that, I may leave the 6x9's for now then, will just have to find a new rear shelf (not too hard!)
Ok I'll have a look at the type s stuff (did notice it - wasn't sure how much difference it would make) and see if I can work it into my budget.
Thanks for the advice guys!
