E30 Zone

Guys,

I spoke to BK racing direct this afternoon about my much needed 17" replics in the form of BK171's.
They however said they do not have any alpina reps suitable for the E30 in stock.

They did say however, they can supply he same alloys with a 20mm spacer that sits on the hub to fit an E30.

Has anyone got these alloys? If not what do you think...safe?

I'm desperate for my alpina's bck and cannot wait any longer.

There are plinty of other e30 fitament Aplina reps availble on ebay, Why don't you want to try them? don't fancy a 20mm spacer!

I've searched but there aren't that many to be honest.....and not at £415 with tyres an delivered.

I'm worried if the wheels are sme width as the normal E30's, the additional 20mm will cause a clearance issue on the rear arches with the ridiculus drop I've got on the back.

surely the spacer is due to the offset being wrong on the alloy for e30 fitment and the use of the spacer will bring it back into the proper line and not make it stick out more?

OK, so I'm good to go and order a set tomorrow then?

I'd personally wait to see when they are getting the direct fit ones in mate.

Spacers are fine if you use good quality ones, But if they make the wheels in the correct ET I would wait (If it was my car anyway)

If you do go ahead, make sure they supply hubcentric spacers. Can you also check what ET the wheels are without the spacer, Rimstock told me that I needed 20mm spacers on my 17's, They supplied ET35 wheels and these fouled the outer lip of the arches on the front, and the lump on the inner arch on he drivers side rear.

I changed to a 10mm spacer on the front and 16mm on the rear and have little or no issues now.

When you look for spacers, i would advise you look for hubcentric spacers that first bolt to your hubs and have 4 more threaded holes for the wheel fitment, i had my 9x16s on 20mm bolt through hubcentric spacers on the back, noticed wheel wobble on sainsburys car park, removed the wheel centre cap to find 3 of the wheelnuts were sheared off and the fourth was badly bent

It's mental the main supplier of alpina reps don't have any for an E30 in stock. I was worried about rubbing issues so I think I'll take the advise.

Got my bolt through ones off ebay, maybe the bolts just wernt up to the job ?? got a shock for life when i took the cap off, just kept going through my mind what might have happened on the dual carraigeway with the girlfriend and her kids in the car

I use the normal bolt through the spacer hubcentrics on mine and I found that the bolts supplied were inferior quality shite basically

Had 3 shear (not all at the same time)

I've since removed them and used conversion studs instead of wheel bolts

Not had a problem since


BTW i'm running 7X18 with ET40
15mm spacer on the rear and 30mm spacer on the front(to clear the Brembo's)

I wouldn't want BKs with spacers on my car. The wheels don't exactly have a perfect reputation, even without adding more things that could cause issues. Find some with the proper offset, get some proper metal spigot rings & I'm sure you'll be much happier in the long run... Or just get some real 16" Alpinas in the first place

Even the manufacturer has realised what an aweful wheel they are obviously

Never fear Dan, I think we talked him round to a set of genuine 16" 'pinas.

just buy some genuine ones, yours for £1 million dollars with the specialist straight from a can paint job mate.

only kidding i like them too much

i used to have some bk 171 they were fine for ages then i started getting bad vibrations which wouldnt balance out. Bought some 16 inch alpinas....... Happy days no vibrations.
