can anyone recomend some speakers for the back of my sallon.
not after anything expensive just a set of half good speakers,
when i brought my car it had some crudely fitted 6 by nine speakers in the parcel shelf (sitting on a bit of dodgey mdf) these actualy do sound quite good but looks terible so o took them out and gave em to my dad.
i noticed in the box of bits the previous owner had a pair of square sort of speakers which only one worked. not sure if these are the standard ones but ive got these in my car at the moment. can anyone recomend something which will fit straight in and sound better or shall i just keep my eyes open for some standard ones? i dont realy wana go cutting up the parcel shelf if i can help it.

rear speakers are for 'fill' anyway. put any semi decent 5.5"back there and concentrate on the fronts.
lots of threads on door builds in the archives.

some ebay time will yield some excellent speakers for not much cost. standard apatures take 5 1/4 but 6 1/2s will fit with some mdf work either above or below the shelf without cutting metal. some acoustic carpet will hide it all and leave it all looking factory and hide any previous bodgery.
i suggest trying for something along the lines of jl audio vr range or focals or some higher end alpine speakers. for example - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Focal-Polyglass-1 ... dZViewItem - the postage may be a little high but still a bargain.
i picked up a pair of focal mids (for my van) for 20 and a pair of alpine tweets for 10 from ebay - so there are proper bargains to be had. there's no need to settle for mass market rubbish these days.
