hi guys,

are side repeaters meant to be screwed into the wing, or are they suppose to be clipped in the hole provided.

wen i got my car off the last owner it looks like he has screwed them in, but i dont understand why because dont they just clip into a hole already on the panel?

Both - there's a metal clip and a screw.

As above, both.
The slide into place with the clip (toward the rear of the car) and then they screw in to secure them.

but they do not screw into the metal there is a plastic widgit (like a Rawl plug) that goes into the hole and the screw expands this holding it in place (in conjunction with the clip steveic refers to.)

ok the reason why i ask is because, i have my side repeaters in place but there is a visable hole on the right handside of it.

unless the side repeaters i have are not the correct ones for the car and are shorter then i have no idea what this hole is for. but i am definatly sure its to clip the side repeaters in.

as you look at the hole on your car wing you should see a rectangular hole about 4cm x 2 cm and toward the front of the car there will be a small square hole about 0.5cm x 0.5cm , the clip on the back of your indicator will slide in this rectangular hole toward the rear of the car, the small square pole should have a plastic screw retainer/expansion clip, the hole on your indicator should line up with this hole and a short self tapping srcrew is fitted to hold it in place. if your does not have these it is not correct, if it has them but does not appear to fit it is the indicator for a E34.

yes you can get em smoked or clear or yellow- try bmtown.com or autotintdesign.com (or could be .co.uk)

i aslo think the M3 have different ones, the fronts are certainly different but not sure about the sides

the E30 (non-M3) one is about 11-12 cm long but it should be obvious when you fit it, if it does not fit easily its not correct as i said it could be for a E34 or E32

M3 side repeaters are indeed smaller - It was pointed out to me once, hadn't realised.

Those are definately not e30 ones and look to me like e32/e34 ones. The e30 ones are bigger and have a slightly different lens shape to them.

It also looks like that one is upside down, Im sure on my 750il that the screw was on the right towards the rear of the car but that was a couple of years ago now !
