Clear front signals and side markers
Moderator: martauto
Anyone have a DIY for clear front signals and side markers? Everywhere I look the signals are $60+ each and the side markers are $20+ each....it seems like I should be able to make them myself for much cheaper. Thanks for the help.
this is my first post and i hope i don't come across as a cheapie, but, when i had my old (much missed) 325i sport, i used the plastic diffuser that goes under commerical fluorscent tubes....the ones you get in shops and offices with suspended ceilings. if you cut the size correctly, and drill the holes carefully (i cracked my first few attempts!) you can actually place it on top of the front indicators and use longer screws.....can look pretty good, and will only cost a few quid! let me know if you try it
If your going to do this drill it before you cut it has its more likely to crack when cut and if you can get a bloetorch of simlar and heat up the drill bit before drilling you dont need it hot like lava but hot enough and it will go through plastic easily just remmeber after drilling not to touch drill bitpukar wrote:this is my first post and i hope i don't come across as a cheapie, but, when i had my old (much missed) 325i sport, i used the plastic diffuser that goes under commerical fluorscent tubes....the ones you get in shops and offices with suspended ceilings. if you cut the size correctly, and drill the holes carefully (i cracked my first few attempts!) you can actually place it on top of the front indicators and use longer screws.....can look pretty good, and will only cost a few quid! let me know if you try it

Regarding the bulbs under the clear indicators, to avoid the 'fried egg' look, it's nice to have the silver examples that flash orange.
If you don't want to spend the cash to buy some (who does!?), a couple of coats of grey primer works a treat!
