mounting euro plate on front of US spec E30

I have an '87 325es and want to put a Euro plate on the front instead of my boring US one. Problem is, the license plate frame is part of the front bumper's rubber molding and it is shaped for a US plate. Does anyone have any ideas of how I could fit it on? Or have any other americans on the site had this problem? Thanks for any responses!
