Supercharging a 320i

hi, I am a new member from South Africa, I own a 320i with a new arctic white (believe it's ice white) spray job, mtech2 bodykit, 17"razor rims, looks pretty neat, will post some pics later. Engine mods are light, 6 branch manifold, filter, the usual shit, this weekend hopefully the 325 TB. Now I know some guys on this forum doesn't like the 320i I however like it's revvy nature and think it will do quite well with a supercharger , I choose my targets wisely but it hasn't embarrased me yet and infact impressed me, and pissed of owners of some pretty new 2.0 models. Anyway has anybody ever done a supercharger or even turbo on the m20b20? (320i)

here is my plan:

custom 6 branch dual piece - Done
eaton supercharger @ .6bar
cylinder head rebuilt - just for peace of mind
new timing belt - same as above
intercooler from landrover

Some comments on this would be appreciated guys
also bear in mind things are ALOT more expensive here (car wise) than over in the UK

Thank You

forgot to mention, I am looking for around 200hp , is this a little ambitous @ .6 bar? anything above 200 is a bonus, but I need it to be reliable aswell hence the low boost

in a mercedes scrapyard, the 200compressor uses them, I am somewhat of a purest, but it's a eaton....so it's cool, would a mini supercharger be to small ?

try pure performace factory (google it) and have a look at their turbos m8.

The bloke doesn't speak that good english (they are swedish).

Remember engine management/MAF will be a pain in the arse.

Hope that helps

Sounds like a nice idea to me, a short stroke motor with the torque being made up with boost :)

Think with 0.6bar, you'll have no problems atall making 200bhp :)

Possibly a little high with standard compression, although not sure what the CR on the 2.0 is?

As ever, do be careful with engine management. If you're pushing the limits with boost/CR, you'd be better off with management that knows what it's doing with positive manifold pressure signals.

Good luck and keep us posted!

the BMW book says 9.4 to 1 CR of the 320i, exactly what I am going for Turbo Brown, a short stroke motor making torque with boost, I am going the supercharger root as it's more reliable and no lag. Good to see positive input from You mr Brown :) and other guys to

course it can-head is not as fragile as the 2.5 one, and the 320 revs up more cleanly
