Gonna be starting the 318ti project soon and have a few questions:
Where is the best place to take the oil feed from?
Where can I get a oil return pipe from?
What spark plugs do I need to use, do I need a colder set?
I'm looking at running 8psi to start with then going upto 14ish, MS will be going on in the next couple of days

Chu, on the filter housing there is a blank fitting on the opposite side to the pressure switch, remove the 5mm hex head blank and thats where to take the oil feed from dude.
on the M40 the return has to go below the static oil level, not an issue though as its way above the oil level when the engine is running so the return will function as required.

How did your turbo project go, did you come across any major issues?

don't take offence to this, but apart from the fact its different, why did you do it?
m52b28 with m50 inlet and cams with a remap would destroy that.
cool project though

1) I would get 30mpg
2) I already had a turbo siting in the garage
3) My first setup only cost me a grand
4) The whole point of this car was to be lightweight and on a slim budget
5) Insurance was only £400
6) These engines are cheap to replace if I break it, I don't think I've ever seen one for sale for more than £100
7) For me this was easier than a M52B28 because I didn't need to source the parts, then mod the engine and then do the engine conversion
8) I don't believe that a M52B28 would destroy my old 1.8t when it was running 14psi

some good points there. so what power did it put out when you had it running at 14psi?

Didn't have it tested at 14psi. The dyno guy thinks it would have been upto 250bhp. I think it would be more like 220-230ish.
