small update, huge turbo...

just recievied my mls gasket today for my 325 turbo! only ordered it 5 days ago! from vacmotorsport.com, cost me around 150 with postage to me, also got aload of gaskets and such for the inlet ect off zimmerbimmer1, cheers! been messed around so much on ebay lately so just purchased a holset hx35w with 16cm housing, i want to do something different so im gonna take the exhaust strait out the front wing, although i might need some sort of small muffler fitted? idealy i would like to go out in front of the front wheel with the exhaust but not too sure if that will be an issue yet? also for you boost junkys, i want to go external wastegate would this work?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=015
its gonna push the turbo up quite abit so before you say the bonnet will be an issue im takin it off the hinges and using pins to keep it down plus cutting a hole so the turbo can poke out, given the turbo will prob poke out a good few inches but i can live with that, i would like to post some pics up but im pretty crap when it comes to computers but il take a load an see if my mrs can work it out, and il make sure il keep you posted on my progress cos now i have basicly every thing i need exept some small odds an sods im gonna get cracking!
parts i have and fitting:
280mm wilwood brake kit
full koni adjustables 60/40 springs
new wheel bearings
new head with turbo cam
mls stock thickness with 12.9 grade bolts
all new gaskets for inlet exhaust ect
megasquirt and wasted spark
tubular manifold
hx35 16cm
oil feed and return
some other odds and sods i cant remember
havent got an external wastegate as of yet
prob forgoten a load of stuff too, really want it done in time for santa pod to see what she will do as il be running 16 psi, but doubt il make it in time though!!!

Sounds like an awsome build dude... 16psi and front exit exhuast
Wont you need an exhaust to get the car to the pod?
Good luck with it

Hi.
Very nice project!
One thing: you will race only it, or use on streets? Couse in normal use i dont recommend the exhaust to go out in front of the front wheel. COOL at all, but exh. gases possible "take a journey to driver" due turbulence?
My buddy made it to come out before the rear wheels(E36 328 T). Brutal sound...

its for road use. that did play on my mind a bit getting exhaust fumes in my face so il have to look into it a bit more then?

Doesnt sound much like fun
How about routing the downpipe as normal and having it exit just behind the real wheel, kind of like the Merc SLR.....
Maybe have a screamer pipe exit down there as well

well the reason i want to go out the wing really is i want a BIG downpipe an heard its a right bitch to get a 3" past the steering let alone a 3.5 what i want mate! just worried it will be too loud!!!!

Assuming the turbo will have the exhaust side at the rear of the engine (as normal I think), routing the pipe back round the front to exit in front of the wheel wont be that easy will it???

no, it wont! i could go behind the front wheel, but either way im in a bit of a pickle!!!

Just been thinking about this. How about running the downpipe out through the inner wing near the battery tray.
I dont know what space there is behind the wheel inside the wing, but you could maybe run it across the battery tray (or below it), through the inner wing, have a smaller silencer behind the wing and exit just in front of the door. I dont know what structural stuff there is there, but its maybe an option.

yeah this is the way i was thinking, dont think it would harm it too muchas long as i didnt make the hole through any structual joins.. anyone got any ideas of a small but effective silencer? doesnt need to be too quiet but just to cut some of the noise out????

I belive you can fit 310mm under 16" and on some wheels you can fit 312mm kit from 300mm.de
