id reckon the first is to small and the second although a more realistic size would be an unknown gamble but im no expert either.

IIRC the 1st one is a smaller version of the T3 so would probably be too small for any decent gains.
2nd one would probably be OK if it were complete.
The actuater and exhaust housing appear to be missing.
Dunno how much you'd be on top of the buy it now price for the exhaust housing.
New actuators are about £65 ea IIRC
Best thing to do,would be to contact Ant
His numbers in his sig

it has an exhaust housing in the pics?

and surely if it has garret internals both sides of the turbo would need to be there?

Agreed T28 hybrid is too small, the other one is chineese shite so well worth a swerve regardless of spec
Branded Garrett T34 in 60 trim for midrange and awesome torque, HX30+ for anything more or a GT37 but they are £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£
you have to decide WHAT you want before spending out, should you want lag free smooth power up to 300hp( ish) then the smaller turbos are best, but they do strangle the engine @ higher rpms due to the size of the turbine wheel and housing, regardess of boost desired.
tubo choice is hard, its the very reason there are 1000's of "T3" turbos out there, unless you have the dimentions of the wheels and housings, you'll never be sure of what is what. Holset manufacture over 400 versions of their HX35 series, the actual spec dependand on final application, but they are all HX35s, see where I'm going with this ?
unfortunatly, unless you follw Alex( Turbo-Browns) mantra of twins on eveything, you cant have it all.....
Small turbos are great, just dont expect 300+ HP , monster torque though and great "road cars" dont chase peak HP and torque figures dude, the area under the graph is whats important.
I dont have the dyno to hand on this PC , but my SE on stock CR with 5.5psi of boost gave 220 lbs/ft of torque from 1809rpms to 5200 rpms, but struggled to to break 200 HP, the figures do an injustice though, she was(is?) an awesomely quick and economical car, and lethal in the wet.
Horses for courses, I got bored and went the other way, not quite finished the job yet though so the Jurys out , for now

You could steal one from a "cheap" unit that needs reconditioned.
Or poss contact some of the more reputable turbo reconditioning companies.
As I said, don't know how much they'd cost.
You could also consider the T3 or T4
And next to a T3
Holset's are another option.

Meant the section where the downpipe bolts to that incorporates the wastegate.

Should has stated more clearly.

Yeah.
The one on the left is the T4 and the one on the right is,What you could call a "standard" T3
It's still not fitted.
Just getting the parts together as and when they become available at the right price

No
I haven't done the conversion yet
Won't be done till I've got everything here and am ready to fit all the parts.
Still have to sort out
Wideband lambda
ECU(MS/DTA/Emerald) dunno yet. haven't made up my mind yet.
External wastegate actuator
Exhaust(downpipe/system)
Oil feed
Metric blues
Welded water jacket
Throttle bodies
Fabricated inlet manifold
Fabricated Plenum chamber
And probably a few other little bits and pieces
Already have the
Turbo
Inlet manifold(Modified 324 TDS)
Oil return line
Intercooler

so were in the same boat
and your gonna use the t4 turbo
do you have to have an external wastegate with the t4 turbo?
Re: what turbo (m20 2.5)

Aye
Gonna use the T4
Also have one from a 324tds,(came with manifold).
Theres no facility for an internal wastegate with the T4 I'm affraid.
So it's gotta be External wastegate.

Wont be an isuue
Manifold has a flange for it.
Just need to make an adapter.
It WILL work

You can get an adapter on Egay to allow fitment of an external wstegate.
You can if your going from a T3 flange to a T4
See here
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=015
Might manage to find one on there website
OR
Make one up yourself.
OR
Get a local fab company to make one to your specification

Nice manifold bro.. tig welded and 1yr warranty.

.. will check with Torque exhausts about the grade of stainless they are using and see what they say! With that manifold, i would use a T3 with internal wastegate... nothing wrong with that set up..

Small adapter between manifold flange and turbo
Or get someone to modify the manifold to accept a flange for the wastegate below the face where the turbo bolts on
Hope that makes sense

T3 and T35(TB34) shouldn't reqire an external wastegate
Most of the Garrrett's have internal wastegates.
Don't have any experience of the Holset's
Hopefully someone will be along soon to advise

hi have fitted several different types of turbo over the years on my 325 touring. some 300+ bhp now in a convertible .i would recommend a garrett t3 but depending on boost with a 360 bearing. this is a must if you intend noto constantly be changing turbos. a 360 spools better if not quicker and prevents hot spots and seizure. around £500

hi and welcome to the zone turbotel
so basicly i should go for a t3 garrett with a 360 bearings

Very pricey though bruv, plus max boost on standard internals i would say is about 10psi to stay on the safe side.... 360 degree bearing is needed if running more than that kind of boost
