E30 Zone

Ive heard a few people have turbo'd them but has anyone actually supercharged an e30???

That kit that was mentioned in another post from Lowen Design cost 4k (USD) !!!!!!!!

Surely you could just about get a full turbo conversion done for that? Which would give you alot more power?

So a) why so much $'s? b) has anyone got a supercharged e30? c) is it a better idea to leave forced induction alone and go for a N/A engine transplant?

It's six of one and half a dozen of the other really, the amount of power you end up with is largely dependant on the boost you're running and the engine doesn't care whether that comes from a supercharger or a turbocharger.

Whether you go for a bigger engine for more power or a blower conversion of some sort depends on what you want to achieve. I fancied having some turbo power so that's what I'm doing, the 2.7 conversion seems quite popular for a bit of extra grunt and then there's the 3.5 conversion

What kind of money are you talking about for a 2.7 conversion? and what kind of bhp would that give me? is that a 2.7 engine transplant of boring the 2.5 out to 2.7?

Also approx how much for the 3.5 conv and what performance figures do you end up with?

I had an mr2 turbo before the beemer, running about 20 psi, chipped, full zorst, induction kit, put out about 260 brake, loved it to bits but very prone to blowing up! and thats what made me get the e30 coz i was told there super strong.................but i miss the power!

So what would u say would be the best way to get around 250-300 bhp, SAFELY? I also dont want to ruin the great handling

The 2.7 conversion seems to consist of an "ETA" bottom end which I think has a longer stroke than the 325 engine.

No idea about cost of either bigger conversion though.

I'm hoping for about 240bhp (secretly 260 actually) from a 6psi turbo conversion on my 325i. Total cost in the region of Ԛ£4.5k including an engine rebuild, suspension upgrade, 4-pot brake conversion and a programmable ECU.

Copy turbo Brown.........best way. I got a feeling his wish of getting 260 bhp is going to come very very true.

If I had an e30 I wanted to make go faster I would copy Turbo Brown aswell.
