I've read this forum for a long long time so i thought i'd post my project here too (Boring day at work and nothing to do

)
Well, it all started in easter 2005 when i bought '87 325 cabrio from Germany:
http://www.minunauto.com/cars/116/r_1131111721.jpg
Immediately after driving it home to Finland i pulled engine out and started putting M30 back in with megasquirt'n'spark. Well, it didn't work out as hoped so in summer 2005 i drove only ~10km with it.
During the winter 2005-2006 i installed original motronic back and made few adjustments to the car.
http://www.minunauto.com/cars/116/r_1150388229.jpg
In summer 2006 i drove about 100km's and then oil pump broke
Actually that's when i started this project. I thought that if i have to put the engine to bits then i'll strip the whole car.
And so i did:
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... %20007.JPG
Engine done (original M30 from E28, almost everything new, sport-getrag from E12 528 (yes, it has the dogleg-thingie

)):
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... %20002.jpg
Axles and few other "under the car" - parts got sandblasted and powdercoated:
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... palkki.JPG
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... palkki.JPG
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... %20005.JPG
Wheels painted

; BBS RS 4x100 8,5 (ET34, have to get 20mm spacers for these) + 10x17 (ET14) with 215/35 and 245/35:
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/prokkis_k ... %20009.JPG
At the moment car looks like this:

More pictures can be found here:
http://users.tkk.fi/~jhaukile/Projekti.html
Next i'll fit (original) mtech2 bodykit so every hole is made before painting which is the next big thing (no idea about the colour, though

). After that i'll put everything back together (seats get also new leather). The car should be ready by summer 2008.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. This was only brief check what's been made up to today.
Btw, check out the biggest BMW club in northern europe:
http://www.btcf.fi ;) lot of interesting projects going on

Thanks
Frontwheels are 8,5" wide, ET34 so i have to run them with 20mm spacers. Rearwheels are 10" wide, ET14 so no spacers required and they roll nicely with just some arch-rolling.
I bought "new" front doors, old ones were so rusty that i couldn't use them. Next I might need new front wings (they cost ~40┚¬ for sedan and ~220┚¬ for cabrio) so I think I'll use old ones.
In few weeks is finally the first payday of my summer job so i'll get new brake-/fuel lines and all new clips for mtech2-kit. Finally i can start fitting it to the car

No prob but you have one problem; you can't buy those wheels anywhere and 5x120 17" BBS RS are very, very rare. Few on ebay.de sometimes, though

lol no joke i have already looked! i was thinking IMAGE wheels as they look exacly the same but with a diffrent badge also they are light so less unspung weight

Btw whats your opinion on 16" Dia wheels with 45 profile tyers cos im a little worried about the handleing on 17s and if they scrap when throughing the car around even though the arches will be rolled? thanks

... and after 60 new holes it looks like this
Suspension is all set, new rearbrakelines / fuel-lines fitted with stainless-steel hoses etc etc.
Next i'll have to find a welder to weld few things on the rear so i can fit facelift rearlamps and rear bumper. After that comes the painting in september.
Tons of little things to do before that though.
Added some pictures here:

Haven't updated this for a long long time but now I've some spare time so I thought I'd write something.
Car is progressing quite well, first some metalwork was done to get facelift lights fitted as well as lot of dents fixed:
Then it was scrapped to bare metal:
And painted:
Fitted the bodykit and test-fitted the wheels
Engine is on it's place and running

, still lots of cleaning in the engine bay though.
Interior is being renewed, here's one teaser of it (it's not ready yet, in couple of weeks it'll be).
More pictures can be found
here
This car should be "outside-ready" by easter (there's a car show i accepted to bring my car) but this'll be totally ready by summer, hopefully
Ordered three kits of xenons as well as new gaskets for windows and lots of other little stuff. You can spend amazing amount of money to all the little stuff you don't count for in the beginning of a project

I know they look bit crappy, especially in that picture where the car is still black. Good thing is, that they look much better now when whole car is white
Been loking MHW lights on ebay, hopefully I find one pair before summer

Very nice dude.
If anyone's genuinely interested there are a set of 17" 5x120 RS on eBay at the moment - currently about £1200 with 4 or so days left - expect them to make £2.5k+ to be honest.

Would need 5 stud suspension though wouldn't you, probably only worthwhile for M3 owners.

Thanks for comments
Finally! I drove first meters last weekend :winner: All functioned fine, no major problems.
Exhaust is quite loud (only tubular manifolds at the moment) and no seats so had to sit on paint canister
Anyways, it's all coming nicely together.
Hood isn't mounted in these pictures, suspension is set quite hight to be able to drive to those ramps etc.. lots of little things to adjust.
Interior is quite ready to be pickep up, I'll mount it in couple of weeks.

Had to drive a little even though it was snowy
The car sits quite high in pictures because i can't drive it out of the garage if it's in low - settings
Engine bay is still messy, but i finally found new black MHW facelift rear lights

, gotta pick them up next weekend.
