i'm wondering if anyone can help with a bit of advice regardin this type of engine. '1996 2.8TD isuzu
is this by chance the interference type? with the valves entering the piston chamber?
it's not about the e30, but if someone is a mechanic, and heard about it.

Because of the compression in diesel engines i think they are all interference, the available space between piston and valve can be less than 1 mm :!:

If you've got the horrible knock coming from the engine, check the timing on the diesel pump.

The engine your talking about came in 3 sizes, 2.5 2.8 and 3.1. As far as im aware all 2.5 and 2.8 are cambelt driven. To know for sure just look at the housing between water pump and sump. If its gear driven it will all be alloy. The belt type have a 2 piece black plastic cover. Hope this helps.
