Hi ..
probably a good place to post ..

I`ve got a 325 that i`ve turbo`d myself .
i can highly recommend it, its great 8O
only at 4ish psi so far (increasing it slowly instead of blowing it up straight away :) )
and need to iron out some other stuff..
but i love it ..

hope i can help out in some way

Awesome!

Do you have any pictures of the car/engine bay?

What's your set-up?

Where are you from?

So many questions!

Yeah MORE INFO!!!! :)

Any idea what sort of power you're making on 4psi?

Be interesting to know how the theory and practice match up!

One of the other threads in this section makes mention of a kit that runs 6psi and makes 255bhp which is a pretty impressive gain, slightly exceeds what I crudely calc it should be so things are hopefully looking good for mine :)

Hi.
(stands up)

My name is Dean , i`ve been a bmw aholic for a few years now.........

car :-
Image
Turbo is a t25 (saab 9000 2.3) (e bay )
intercooler is off a vectra (saw it in a scrap yard so i bought it )
bailey dump valve (e bay )
FSE power valve (to raise fuel pressure for stock injectors)
maf off a nissan primera ("borrowed from a scrap car at work ") :)
SMT-6 for calibrating maf + ignition (bought from gunni )(hello gunni)
my brother did all the exhaust + intake welding.

i started off with a gt22v from a merc , but i stuffed it up with a bodged air filter.set me back(timewise) so i kinda rushed it after that as my sons birth was fast approaching..

i`m back into fiddling with it a bit more now
i`ve got a t3 to put on ,and i want to make a manifold instead of an adapter from manifold . i didnt have room for exaust back down by steering so it goes under subframe and catches speed bumps :( not good.
got a map sensor to put on instead of maf
and could do with some bigger injectors ..
and.... need to wind boost up a bit
apart from that its great :)

i`ve got an ap22 (like a gtech)..but i havent really had time to set it up
need to set it up properly to find hp ..

Ok, thanks for that.

Sounds like quite a beast. Be interesting to see what power it makes!

noticed that you are going to fit a map sensor in place of the maf. Why is this? I thought that maf was the best way to calculate air / fuel?

Hi hoshy.

MAP instead of MAF
2 main reasons for me :-
1.. boosting at just 3 psi maxes out my Maf (5 volts?) so i have to lower voltage with SMT and up fuel pressure (me not liking :o )
map reads 5 volts at 1 bar ..
2.. if i blow a pipe off between maf and throttle body = no air metering.
runs pants.
embarrasing going passed the same pedestrians that i`ve just dumped on..going the other way

no restriction at all either .even though thats only slight i think (its only a small obstruction)

don`t know if how easy it is to set up snd if i can get it to run smooth enough but i thought it would be better..

Dean.
