Right ok im fairly new to this site, but have been driving e30"s since iv past my test, and now iv got to the stage where i want my 32.5i to go faster then the sun!!! "any ideas"?? How about a turbo? Thats the plan, but at the moment i have no idea how to go about getting one sorted! Im sure it can be done one way or another? I mean if people are wacking massive m5 lumps in there cars then why the hell not! If anyone who reads this has any usefull imfomation for me that would be great, as i need to show the peeps in there cosworths whos boss! And hopefully eat them for breakfast and maybe sprinkle a bit of there pride on my corn flakes.......... "and that would be pretty sweet! thanks aloT, fROM STATY[/b]

www.lowendesign.com, hey check out their rotrex supercharger, easy to install and wont harm even a stock engine, chip recuired, but will add at least 80 hp to your beamz!

There are a couple of options covered there with regard to turbocharging.
My project is a twin turbo setup with throttle bodies and mappable engine amangement, but there are cheaper ways which involve readily available exhaust manifolds etc.
RE: not harming a stock engine, that's no doubt right, but it won't do an engine that's at the end of it's life any favors so depending on the age, milage and condition of yours, it might be worth factoring in for a rebuild too

That Rotrex Supercharger dosnt look too bad, does anyone know if it possible though to turbo.supercharge an M42 18.is engine? Their nippy cars to start with, but with a supercharger i could see it being awesome, anyone know if theres similar kits out there?

You can pressure charge pretty much anything, depending on how much power you want, I'd guess that a supercharger from a new Mini would work quite well and they go for about Ԛ£150 on ebay!
A positive displacement blower would make for quite a nice conversion, lots of low down torque etc.
As with all these things, the engine management is key to getting the most out of it!

Oh right.Well im replacing my 318i, with an is after the summer (not going 2.5 cos of insurance) and i wouldnt mind putting somthing on there to give it a bit of a wack!
Sure is mate, been a guitar fan for a good few years, gota love the Jem.Saw Vai and satch just before Christmas i think,pretty sweet show
Edit-Just looked at my concert ticket and it saysTuesday 29th June 2004, Didnt realise G3 was june, can remember it like yesterday!

OOOps i think i just posted my reply on a different forumj! ha ha, what a nutter, anyways! I think i may have just found a mini supercharger on ebay! Can anyone tell me if this is the right one??

It's definately worth calculating how much air your engine will consume before buying the M45.
Have a look at this graph:
As it may be that the M45's too small for the M20 engine.
I worked out some time ago that I needed two of them in order to make about 400bhp on my E36 M3 engine. I does say that they're good up to 3 litre engine capacity, but I've a feeling that they still only support 200ish bhp which is why the Mini people swap them in the works kit.

I take it the M45 is the name of the mini supercharger?
They may be too small for the M20, but how about an M40/M42 motor?

It's not so much the capacity of the engine, but the power you want from it that affects supercharger sizing.

Oh right, so it wouldnt make a difference if it was in a 4pot rather than a 6?
You seem to know a fair bit about this mate, what would you say an ok Supercharger setup would be costing me? And is it worth upgrading my motor to an is or can you get similar results from the M40 1.8?
