320i to 325i

Hi Chaps,
Just out of interest i've heard from E-tech motorsport that a 320i sport can have a 325i lump dropped in needing nothing else and you will still gain the extra hp / torque. That is to say, the original 320 chip will remain, the MAF / Air flow meter, no oil cooler etc etc.
Will this really work? I have heard of people using a 320 maf on a 325 successfully, but surely the chip / ecu doesn't have the fueling maps for the 325i? Unless it solely works on air fuel ratios taken from the sensors?
Also what difference would leaving a 320i sport diff and box on the car with a 325i engine make? Would it be lower geared, better for acceleration, or worse?
Thanks!
