What are my options?

Im planning on swapping my engine for something with abit more tuneability. something like an M10 so i could go the turbo route!

But before i do this, is there anything i can do with my current engine which is a 318i M40? can i tune this in the same way as the M10 and put a turbo on it??

I have a feeling that i know what most of the replys will be... but im hoping to be shocked???

24 valve is a good route to go and there are many options depending on your budget and need for power

you can turbo an m40 no probs, just give the topend a good check up. ultimately keeping the m40 saves the hassel and expence of swoping.
you can easily achive the power figures on a 325i with better torque delivary

What do i need to do to my exsisting engine to fit a turbo?

nothing for a low boost aplication.
you nned a custom manifold, suitable turbo, intercooler.

if you have no idea whats involved it could be a costly mistake if you try putting it together yourself
