People say the 745i was called so because it was a 3.2 turbo, so if a 1.3 has a turbo what cc would it equate to?? e.g. I think equal to a 1.8 or is it more??

do you mean what power output would equate to on a naturally aspirated engine?

1.8 16v or 2.0 8v, but that would depend entirely on what the manufacturer decides the output should be, for example a R5 GTT is around 130bhp, my ford mondeo 1.8 16v is 115bhp, but theres other cars running 1800 16v's with over 130bhp

its more to do with bmw's model badging than engine capacity, they call it a 745i even though its a 3.2, capacity doesnt change just cos a turbo has been bolted to it

it would surely depend on which engines your comparing and how much boost etc. i wouldnt think there is a hard and set formula for it.

It depends on how much power the turbocharged engine produces! Depends on boost pressure etc.

Though generally turbocharged petrol engines from the factory add about 50% (Audi 1.8T and the old 745i for example) so I suppose 1.3 turbo = about 1.8 N/A yes.

the badging relates to the rules used in F1 at the time. i.e. 3.2 litre turbo car is equivalent to 4.5 litre NA car. not as daft as you think.

Its a 1.3 with about 9.5psi boost and 135bhp

Surely its completely circumstantial of the turbo unit/boost pressure/intercooler/engine? Sounds like a pile of wank to me tbh.

the 745i was produced at the time when turbouchaged moteos were being used in F1, a turbo motor was judged to be 1.4 times the cc it actully was to compare it to the naturally aspirated motors, so multiple 3.2 by 1.4 gave you 4.5.

minde you the 745i in south africa used the m635csi engine 3.5 24 v s88

In car racing turbos usually have their capacity multiplied by 1.7 I think, or maybe it's 1.5 I can't remember now, to find out what class they are in.

it used to be 1.4, but the dont really do it now. either all 2.0 turbo as in the wrc or just tell manufaturers what they can and cant do.
