Turbo manifold question

Hi everyone, i was wondering of turboing my m40 engine and while searching for details i found someone that said it had fitted an e36 318TDS M41 engine turbo manifold to a m40 with small mods and fitted an 2.5TDS turbo. I searched pics about the manifolds and concluded that the M41 manifold is about the same except no1 cylinder port which has a different stud pattern.
My question is, does anyone have a m41 diesel exhaust manifold to take some measurements of the stud holes? Was thinking if the center holes align with the m40 one, i could redrill/weld the holes on the outer cylinder ports, which will save me of building a custom one.

I found two pics of the manifolds:

P.S Please keep the "swapping the engine for a bigger one" to yourselves. I want to learn about turbos and the small m40 seams the best place to start cuz it's cheap to replace if it blows
:D. hope i posted in the right section. thanks

im not sure what turbos you can mount too the m41 one manifold but you might be limited?

I'm sure modifying the m41 can be done but for the time spend welding and machining the cast you could make a simple flange like this -

which would give you better flow than that m41 one and allow you to pick a perfectly sized /common turbo

there was a recent m40 turbo with good results on here, have a search about and see what he did

Yeah, you're right. It will be better to fabricate one than modifying the cast one which could crack in the process.

thanks jimmy
