Oil cooler hose diameter

Hi

I'm getting a right headache trying to sort out custom oil cooler lines using the think auto / mocal fittings

I can do it but the lines path goes through so many different adapters and thread changes the price is adding up and i think the actual flow rate is going down

The main reason its difficult is the thick ID (internal diameter) of the stock cooler lines and the fact that most elbows for m22 threads are 1/4 inch ID and not the 1/2 ID i need.

Can i get away with using 1/4 inch ID hose ?? will it flow enough to make the cooler worthwhile ?

thanks j

http://www.thinkauto.com is the website it has useful t piece adapters for turbo builds and other pipes

If it's a 6 pot, then use the Mocal take off and blanking plate with a remote filter head and new cooler.

You'll then be able to specify fittings for 1/2" or 5/8" I.D hosing.

cheers dave

I might have to do that, was just trying to save some money, by just getting hoses - as a full setup is the best part of £200

sounds good as i have priced unto solutions from them all pretty step !

A] aeroquip comes to £135 which is just hoses

b ] Moquip with a new cooler is £148

c } swaged with new cooler a bit cheaper at 115 but not reusable hose

i almost solved the problem the other day by going to the local hydraulic suppliers

they could make up the take-off from the block but could find an adapter to fit on to the stock cooler think i will just bite the bullet and get the stuff this weekend - have blown money in worse ways
