E30 Zone

i have seen a 16v engine for sale on ebay that i am thinking of getting it to put in my 318i cab. it comes with g/box, ecu, wiring loom. also available from the same car is all the running gear but no exhaust.

When fitting all the new stuff how much of the loom has to be replaced? is it just a loom around the engine or everything behind th dash as well. if anybody knows what is involved in this conversion could they please give me a rough outline. This will be much appreciated!!!

also when i bought the car i had a Toad CAT1 alarm fitted. does anyone know if this will interfear with the conversion?

are u the guy with the neon blue cab, if so, just drop a 2.5 in, i have the same car and have a 2.5 in now and its awsome, the car is the colour i want with 2.5 power, was sick of the 1.8!

If any of the loom does need replacing, you'd do well to spend a day with a pen, paper and some sticky labels going through the alarm wiring and finding out exactly what does what!

Most if not all of the wires will be unlabelled but it's easier to trace when the original loom's intact.

Had to do this on my mates 205 when we installed an Emerald. What a pig of a job. Wires disappearing off into the loom and fuse box, although Frenchness dictated that some of the wires going into the fuse box change colour and number and then just come out somewhere else, without even being fused!

I believe you only have to change the under bonnet loom, simple plug in jobbie.

The real expense will be the exhaust... look into the cost of the front pipes, middle and rear boxes!

The 318i exhaust will not fit.

You will also need the 318is prop shaft, demlotcrew has one for sale if the ebay guy doesn't have one, thinking of it he might also have the exhaust system!
