Sound proofing

Hi Guys,

Right, got the m50 in and driving it about daily.

One problem is the amount of noise the engine makes through the bulkhead.

Whats everyone's best advice with sound proofing?

A mate suggested the roofing felt underlay that you put on with a blow torch.

The foam on the bonnet has been removed and some of the sound insulation around the firewall has also been removed and needs to be replaced.

I need a solution if anyone can help.

Thanks,
Stuart

You may have to do a bit of research on google.

I recall seeing some special soundproofing material supplied by a company in the US.

Can't you get a piece of the original material in from a scrapper? Didn't have any problems with the standard insulation fouling anywhere when I did mine.

I used dynamat in my old car (did bass competitions), the best stuff is dynamat xtreme, its very thin and does a very good job at sound proofing. Not sure how well it would cope with the heat from the engine though?
Its also quite expensive, Ԛ£30 a sheet or a bulk pack of 9 sheets costs about Ԛ£190 although im sure I found it for like Ԛ£130 on the web before.
