M54 SWAP

Has any body swapped in a m54 lump.How much more involved is the wiring.If the wiring is too much off a headache are the blocks interchangable with m52.Thanks for looking
Electronics AFAIK are a PITA.
I know of a few m54 swaps, most either use stand alone or OBD1 conversion, i believe i saw one with the original engine management but that was an extremely complex and high tech adaptation. The guy was an electronics engineer if im not mistaken.
