It looks like i will finally get around to building my M50 B30, after some long delays.
I have a non vanos M50b25 and S50b32 crank/rods/and pistons .
so the plans is to rebore the m50 to take the s50 internals .
I also have a set of s50 throttle bodys that I will be fitting .
I am just wondering what ecu to use , would love to have a go with Megasquirt ,but I am not to sure about mapping it .
are there any other ecus out there that dont cost the earth that will do the job .
the other thing I am wondering about is cams , would I be better changing them , the engine is for a road car and will possibly get super charged later ?

Why not use S50 straight away? :)

Anyways, megasquirt and its derivatives are the best "bang for buck" - solutions available. Mapping them shouldn't be a problem in dyno, you've to do it anyway to get it mapped properly.

I have two s50 b32 and will be making one good one out of the two and fitting to my own car , but I like the old non vanos m50 and its a bit of a pet project , just to do somthing different .
I reckon megasquirt might be the way forward .
I will do a v8 conversion at somestage like yourself , I drove a hammann x5 last week and all I could think of was how will that engine would pull a e30 along !

Running non vanos? It'll do the job.. Consider VEMS also.. Gunni on here has used it with great success..
