M30 with Shrick 284/280/110 cam - valve clearances?

Got the above in and running in my e30 touring now and want to check the valve clearances.

As stock I believe the m30 should be .30mm. On the shrick spec sheet it mentions .25 on inlet and exhaust. Does anyone have any reasons not to use the Shrick value?

and share some input on the high revs, since the 3.5 is a stroker not a revver I'm wondering how will it behave with those cams,

Cheers mate

I have read somewhere that the M30 3.0 cam is a nice upgrade on the 3.5.... but also rare as rocking horse shit.

I might get a Schrick cam as well, read good reviews about them on american M30 sites. Where did you get yours from, and how much was it; thats if you don't mind of course.

the E32/E34 B35 cam is the best original cam of them all, only shrick makes a better one.

not driven a standard engine so can't tell you the differences, Theo has done so you could maybe ask him.
It is still a lazy engine but does rev ok to 6k...

I've got the schrick cam in my M30 but all it seems to do is move the torque higher up the rev range and bit less low end grunt which you do notice over the standard cam, personally i prefer the std cam as it use to feel like more torque accross the range instead of a burst of it higher up...

Thats enough for me, not to get one! I like the M30's smooth power delivery, I do not want to compensate low end grunt.

CR? as far as know everything is standard apart from the schrick cam and a speedtouch chip, just rebuilt top end. Not sure how much more power can come out of the engine without forced induction really, not unless spending silly money on throttle bodies and a trick mani anyway...

Ideally you want to up the CR with a cam like that as it helps with the lowend some. A hotter cam will tend to lose "dynamic compression' during low rpm running making it feel flat.

What is the standard m30b35 compression ratio. For the mi16, above 10:1 is required to have any noticeable improvement witha similar spec cam*

*As in a mildish cam as per the shrick one above.

I believe it is 8.8:1 as standard.

Leaves room for a bit of booost! winkeye

Close ! :) M30b35 9.0:1

If you want lower then try a 745 bottom end, 8.0:1 and has piston oil squirters for less det' and better durability.

With this cam i didn't lose hardly any torque, the small loss was from tickover to about 1.5k so no biggie really.

IIRC when i first put it in along with some head work and a chip i had 180lbft at 1.5k.

Towards the end, my 335 was using an Alpina B10 bottom end which bumped it up to roughly 10.5:1. It was a PITA to redo the squish areas in the heads combustion chambers though !
