help needed,
I've just started, i'm trying to get the wiring out of the way first
I, like yourself and the other guys have done, want to keep the ecu on the righthand side, i'm trying to this wiring before the engine goes in.
I've just opened the loom to a mass of wires if you have any tips or tricks on where to start or what should be routed where it would be a big help, anyonee please
Thanks,
Pat.

There is no advice you can give tbh.. Just label stuff and be methodical.. I think my wiring took me 10hrs all in..

i was hoping you wouldn't say that, does the full loom need to be disasembled and reworked, from looking at that it appears that way du to all wires being inter mixed

Tbh the only easy thing about an S50 swap is sitting it on the engine mounts..
Dig in!

Not doing too bad so far; it started out to be engine swap but has turned into a full restoration job, so engine bay and interior is stripped out, it's gone for engine bay spraying at the mo will be back end of next week, will get some pictures up in the next few days. camera/computer interface problems
So far;
I have relocated the coolant bottle to the battery tray,
raised the abs pump (thanks to Daemons good thinking)
M20 + g/box out,
emmissions pump and a/c pump removed from S50
E34 sump ready to install waiting for arp conrod bolts,
Z3 rack ready to be fitted,
have a contact for making up hose pipes for p/s and oil cooler
Wiring started to get ecu plug in the drivers side
was talking to Ian ref wiring the x20/c101
Just waiting for parts now!!

well lads,
just wondering is there any problems once the air pump and attached pipe work is removed, do i also need to blank the small vacuum pipes or connect these small pipes else where,
i have read that you need an air pump simulator that connects to the engine wiring harness to prevent getting a engine check control light
Cheers,
Pat

You need the SA blanking plate and gasket for the head..
You need to I didn't unplug anything other than removing the pipework, so it still thinks it has a re-circ pump I believe..

I got mine out of a Scirocco, i think it was 1986, it's about 8" diameter, I moved the booster over by 63mm this allows lots of room for the plenum/inlet to be fitted
