So, it started off as a 1.6 engine that you've bored/stroked to 2.0? I'm liking the twin timing chain setup. What sort of power will it put out?
Cheers!

it started out as a 1.8, ive fitted 2002tii pistons, rods and crank so its stroked to 2.0L. twin timing chain is of a 2002 also.320iSE wrote:So, it started off as a 1.6 engine that you've bored/stroked to 2.0? I'm liking the twin timing chain setup. What sort of power will it put out?

Wicked, thanks very much for those mate, know any good suppliers for carb bits? need an accelerator cable bracket and obvo the jets.
am i right in thinking these are weber jets and are the same as dellorto ones? or are all jets the same for both carbs?
Those trumpets look insane!!! whats the spec on that new engine?

You need to check mate. I'm not sure about Dellorto Carbs.
I would get it running first and then get it on the rolling road. Choose one that's got experience with those carbs and let them mix and match jets and stuff.
My new engine is an ex-Formula3 motor but apart from making over 200bhp I don't know much about it too be honest.
I took the S14 sump of it and its got polished rods and nice lightened crank and also took the rocker cover off and everythings new and says schrick everywhere but apart from that dunno. As long as its f**cking quick I don't really care

The only thing that worries me is the Slide Throttles. Apparently they are great for racing but can be dangerous if you get grit down the intake which jams the throttle open
Not good when travelling fast between trees and grit is quite common in rallying. I've got to do it though just for the noise........ Gotta find some really good filters!!!

ahhh rite ok cool. ill see what i can find out about the dellorto's then. Ive got a rolling road lined up who does all sorts with carbs on caterhams and stuff so that should be all good.
That motor sounds the nuts! just make sure you've got some kind of emergency shut of switch somewere near lol

Hi Mark
Glad you liekthe engine, I had a m10 with the AJEC set upyou have you need to get a high quality lube for the slie, like lithium grease and stripp & lube as part of a service.
Alsoi would look at a air box, I think rally design, or merlin do a uivesial one to go with a cone filter, revir do a carbon one but big Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£

Si,
sorry to hijack the thread but Jase if this engine gets me a rally win then you d'man mate

I was thinking airbox but I've got to be careful with Eligibility scrutineers especially if I start doing well. I've got to find out if they had something pre-74 like that......

hmmmm huston i think i have a mojor problem........been reading my book on weber and dellorto carbs. Turns out theres afew different types. Emission and non-emission versions, emission versions cant be tuned properly with performance engines. mine being DHLA 40N seem to be the emission version

Looks like im going to have to change the carbs

Si,
I never heard that before mate I would have thought with your spec engine you would be okay as long as you have 34mm chokes not 32's?? Emission sidedraughts seems to be a contradition....They all suck gallons of fuel!!
...I would get opinions first from Dellorto dealers.
If you do end up getting different carbs, don't get second hand webers that have been fitted to a Ford Kent engine as they are about as far away from the m10 setup as you can get!!
Regards
Mark

Is it worth considering running injection with throttle bodies using megasquirt? Carbs scare me.
