i've spoken to the guy doing the ecu work, today.
for those people who've asked about his contact details, he's asked if i could hold on to his details until he's finished my ecu.
the re-programming is almost done.
he's working on the ews at the mo'.
it has ews4, and is highly encrypted, and cannot be deleted,
so what he does is 'wire-in' either ews2 or ews3.
i sent him the ews3 module and key from the e39 m5 from my last project,
and he's using the module to fool the ecu that ews is present, without using the key or antenna. the ecu will also have an obd port

while we've been 'off air'....
i've taken the engine and box back out, so i could get the car up to the bodyshop. it's my mates bodyshop and is less than 400yds from my house, which is handy!. he's doing some welding on the car, plus a full colour change.
he's fitting it in around his 'bread & butter' work, so i'm expecting it to be a few weeks at least. the new colour is bmw 405 imola red II.

Imola red is a good choice, can't wait to see this finished

Epic thread, Cant wait to see it all finished up. Keep the pics coming. Great work
Hey Glenn!
Awesome project. Currently i have a s52 engine on my e30 m3. Just bought a s62 engine. Which i will be swapping sometime in the near future. I've read both of your s62 threads. Was wondering if you could fabricate the engine mounts you used for the s62 swap.
thanks

progress at the bodyshop is slow unfortunately
his 'bread & butter' cars come first. plus two bank holidays recently has put them on the back foot slightly.
the price i was given at the start reflects the 'fitting in' approach.
still, catching up on jobs around the house is keeping 'er indoors happy

you crack me up dez.
i called in there on the way home from work today
they havn't done anything to it in 6 weeks now.
to say i was dissapointed would be a major understatement !
why do bodyshops do this?
i came home and started thinking about bringing the car home and doing the welding part of it myself. but then i calmed down a bit and thought
i'll leave it there, for a little while longer.......and see how it goes

I don't think I've ever had a bodyshop not muck me about either one way or the other.

What gear box will do you use ?
I think that my next project will be the same after the turbo S50

there is an e30 m3 v10 in sweden, he used an e34 525td gearbox, with a modified bellhousing.MIKA321 wrote:
It's not easy to find in used part![]()
So what is the other solution except the E90 gear box ?
there would be several gearboxes that could be used, if your happy to modify the bellhousing.
if its not easy to find the e90 box, how much easier is it to get yourself a s85?
