Hi all, I am new here and think I have posted the pictures correctly?
The link is above from the photobucket?
My car is a standard BMW 325 se, it's in pretty good nick for standard. I purchassed from a chap who frequents on here, Maurice. It came with an E30zone mild chip, and miller MAF. I have replaced these items to stock as the car idled really badly. So If you guys any suggestions on what to do to sort this out, I would love to place them back on.
Since buying the car, I have had an inspection 2 service, and replaced the standard soft suspension set up with new shocks and springs supplied from KW. They have completely changed the car, although I would like it to sit lower!!!!!!!! Also I intend to get the steering to feel a lot sharper.

Anyways wont bore you anymore, hope you can all see the pictures.

Looking great Robbie!! So pleased it went to a good home :D The chip fitted was a Miller one to suit the MAF, which was a 7,000rpm rev limit one. I still have the original Miller 6500rpm chip, fitting instructions and standard BMW chip if you want them - let me know dude.

I don't recall it idling particularly badly while I had it though (although it was winter at the time I fitted the MAF - maybe that made a difference?)

Anyway, great to see her again 8)

Hello mate, yeah thought the red line went a little further. If you recall you gave me the standard ecu, which I replaced under the dash board, along with the miller MAF, The 6500 miller chip, will that just swap under the dash too?
How is the other car coming along?

Take it easy ,

AFAIK, the Miller MAF has to have the dedicated Miller chip to work (ie, you can't for instance run the MAF with either a Zone chip or the standard chip - unless you've managed to get to run with the original ECU?!). The Miller 6500rpm chip will fit into the standard ECU or the Miller-equipped one - see Articles, Technical Info, Chip Fitting for a guide on how to go about it.

Still have the E34 535i though it's currently out of action as my brother borrowed the battery for his car! :x

PS. A new front number plate would really set it off!

Maurice, I have already replaced the number plates, and have put new suspension all round . I swapped the ECU (under the dash?) and replaced the MAF with the original AFM, you gave me all this? The lumpy idle was sorted as soon as I changed to stock. When I purchassed the car from you what was fitted under the dash?

Oops, my bad - I thought the pic showed the cracked front numberplate :o: It's interesting to hear you sorted the idle by refitting the AFM - I bought the Miller MAF partially because the AFM seemed to cause the commonly reported E30 problem of juddering under light throttle! Like I say, maybe this was a winter-only problem?

When i supplied it to you the ECU fitted had the Miller 7,000rpm chip in.

I think it was more to do with the ECU chip causing the lumpiness, could i get this all sorted with a rolling road session?

Yes, it's possible a RR session would iron out any glitches. When I owned it, I did the usual service items - spark plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, K&N air filter, cambelt change, oil & filter etc. The engine certainly didn't lack performance! 8O

The AFM was the original as far as I could tell, so maybe it needs refurbishing or replacement after 19 years?

It could be worth contacting Miller Performance about the MAF idling problem, or alternatively try the original 6500rpm chip they supplied...

Cheers,

I think it was more to do with the chip in the ecu. Maurice did you ever replace the timing belt? Also do you know if I can get lower springs other than than the 30mm drop I already have on the KW kit I fitted, I want it really low with some old school deep dished rims. Its all about the old school!!

Hi Robbie,
Yes, I had the timing belt replaced by the chap who runs a garage round the corner from where I live.
You could try the Miller 6500rpm chip if you like, or if you prefer I could supply a nice Alpina 192bhp one for use with the standard AFM winkeye

I like the idea of the planned mods, though it's already looking stunning IMHO - not many nice standard ones left now. Dropping by more than 35mm is not recommended - it upsets the ride & handling.
