I had set aside some time this weekend to give the car a fresh coat of wax, I took the advice of the detailing world members and purchased some Victorias collectors

The routine went like this:

Wheels cleaned with Autobrite Britewheels,
Car foamed with Autobrite super snow foam & Chemical guy maxi suds mixture,
Rinsed,
Washed with Chemical guys maxi suds with a drop of strongwash, Serious performance mitt and two bucket method,
Dried with a poorboys waffle weave towel and meguiars last touch,

The car was then put back in the garage out of direct sunlight.

Polished with meguiars hand polish,
Glazed with clearkote vanilla moose hand wax,
3 coats of victoria collectors - minimum of 8 hrs apart,
Wheels sealed with chemical guys wheel guard,
Tyres dressed with Zaino z16 perfect tyre gloss,
Glass cleaned with meguiars nxt glass cleaner,
Window rubbers and seals treated with einszett gummi pfledge,
Exhaust tips polished with meguiars metal polish,

After all of that I was sweating like a paedophile in mothercare. :o

Here's the pictures.

Theres only one word to describe that... M.I.N.T. i particularly like the shot with the reflection of your wheel in the door, top class photography! I really should get round to spending some time on my paintwork, but down in London the lack of dry weather is a nuisance, and I also don't have a garage to shield from sunlight, so I'll have to do it all in one evening. I don't know whether to look forward to it or not!

Nice work...

Cheers Ian, I seem to remember reading somewhere that bmw paint came with a slight ripple to the paint out of the factory??

Either that or it's rust trying to pop through

nah it just needs a good session with a p/c cable or rotary, i removed a bit from lees but didnt want to go mental if that makes sense.

nah wont be rust mate.

mine hasnt got much orange peel in it apart from where it had a poor repsray on the door.

Dave you need a hobby mate :) or some kids, that would put paid to all this polishing malarky. I manage to clean mine once a week, but that is a push, and if I am outside with the car for an hour or more the missus keeps coming out and saying "when will you be finsihed" :x

Does look stunning in the pics though.

This is my hobby Mark, I'm not into going out and getting p*ssed, of shoving class a's up my hooter so I like to spend my time working on the car :D

Yes it is VERY sad to spend as much time as I do on the car, But my life is full of simple pleasures and the peace and quiet I get whilst cleaning the car is worth it's weight in gold. 8)
