My new toy, 89 325i sport in diamond black met. Overall condition is good and interior is near mint.

Will start by sorting any probs on bodywork, paint etc.

Then refurb or new wheels (like the euro look)

Engine and suspension mods planned as well

Have already painted grill matt black. Replaced air filter with KN panel and giving it service this week.
Hoping to get to a track day this summer. Will update with the progress.
Any ideas on new wheels welcomed.
Cheers

Thanks for the offer. I am going to leave the interior as it is for now although leather sounds good. My spare wheel is same as others and is good with new tyre. Again Thanks.

Sweet ride....
you could try some wide, deep dish wheels on there,
like Borbet A's!!
or something like this...

Welcome to the Zone Young'un

although your probably not!!
That looks like a good example of the Sport, very good purchase indeed...
Personally, when it comes to wheels, I would go for the following - Azev A's, BBS Splitties, Hartges or Original Alpina...Having said that, standard BBS 15", Mint, still look sweet...
Good Luck with the plans for the car, just keep the pic's coming

Nice car!
Get that bodykit off ASAP and check it for rust underthere before you spend anymore money on it!
Ignore it at your potential peril in the nicest possible way!

Thanks to beardymat for sending me the part number for this.....

Can now get on with fitting it and putting some new underseal on the car and all the inner arches.
Had some red tint spray in the garage so decided to tint my rear lights until I buy some smoked ones.

I thought I would draw a nice pic of my sport aswell

Next job is to replace passenger door as there is some rot along the bottom edge. I have already got two second hand doors from a sport which have no rust or damage to them. Will get some pics up soon.
Cheers.

I do like the red, especially on a darker coloured car. Going to get smoked side and front indi`s and hopefully headlights aswell so the rears might stay as they are.
Cheers hammoj28.

Cool, smoke headlights look evil.
Ii would acutally leave the 325 badge off the back, looks smooth with no badges and much neater.

Looking good mate but to be fair it looks like you've bought a pretty good one so not really that much to do apart from polish it, open a beer and look at it!!!
You can waste hours doing that!

Cheers, car is pretty good and want to keep it that way. A beer sounds like a good idea.

Next job is to give it a good clean underneath and apply new underseal including all arches. Fit new passenger door and prep and respray. Wll eventually have whole car resprayed in original colour.
Loads of other things planned. Will keep updating as I progress with the car.
I luv the sport and want to get it to a show standard.
Thanks.
More work done......

At last the sun was shinning so I could get on with some work on my sport. First job was to remove rusty bung in floor pan and fit new one.
Old rusted bung

was left with big hole

Cleaned away all the loose dirt and sealant inside and underneath then fitted new bung

Tiger sealed inside and then undersealed

Will be undersealing whole car including arches over next week or two.
I also re-fitted my rear badge which I sprayed matt black. I think it looks great.
More pics and updates soon.

Another quick update. I have started to clean and apply new underseal. Messy job but worth doing. I will get some pics up soon.
Another little mod I have done today.
In keeping with the other subtle matt black parts on the car.
I am hoping to refurb my wheels soon, any tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok, I have been cleaning and undersealing the car. Still have some small areas to do. Unfortunatley I have found a whole in my rear offside arch which will need to be sorted befor I can underseal the arch.
I have managed to find two doors which are the same colour as my car

.

Started to strip passenger door.

They have no rot or rust and will be replacing my old doors. My passenger door has started to rust at the bottom.

My drivers door has a very small bubble on the edge so as I managed to find both doors at a bargain price I will be replacing it aswell.
Also brought these earlier in the week.

wax will be applied to doors once fitted and paint stripper is being used to refurb my wheels. I have completed one centre cap so far and polished up the rim of the wheel.

Decided to colour the centre and spokes of the wheels. Will get some better pics up soon. Took me all afternoon to polish one wheel rim and with the help of my dremel but think they will look great once done. Will be putting new BBS centre caps into wheels.
Thanks,more updates soon.

Ok, been trying to crack on with my sport. spent two days refurbing one wheel but am pleased with the results

Started by applying paint stripper to rim then rubbing back to bare alloy. Using different grades of sandpaper, wet n dry and my dremel polished up the rim.

Then started on the centres. again used stripper to remove laquer and help remove paint. Then rubbed back to key surface. cleaned ready for painting. As smal areas had rubbed down to bare alloy I masked off and primed the centre with etch primer. I then coloured the centres with metallic grey. Left it for few hours in the sun to harden then applyed laquer. dryed over night. Removed masking and replaced centre caps.
Not sure wether to replace badges with BMW or BBS ones?

Just four more to do
Completed undersealing hole car and started on arches. Gave it good clean and using wire brush rubbed off any old loose underseal. Checked for any major rust. Found few minor surface spots which I rubbed down, treated and then primmed before applying good 1-2mm underseal.
Also cleaned plastic inner arch and checked and cleaned up inside arch. Gave the inside cavity a spray of cavity wax.
Removed front valance and bumper to clean and check for any nasty rust.

No major problems, small dent on bottom edge but doesnt show when valance is on. Didnt notice this when I brought the car.
Also replaced some broken clips and stickers.
Really happy with car and will try to get rest of wheels done asap.
Thanks for looking.

Looking good - although I'd budget for a new front tyre and some alignment judging by your OSF!
Wheels will look SWEET when all done!

Go for BMW badges - more authentic...

Maybe black & silver ones like the bonnet/boot roundels?
Bruce.

Yeah, I noticed the tyre. Will get that sorted once the wheels are all done.
Black and silver BMW badges

, Great idea.
Thanks.
