LOL 325X - if you've got a spare Ԛ£1200!!!
HOT 325X - is available if you've got even more money to blow!!!!!! Wicked Plate!!
Or for a cheaper option, you could just go with a variation of mine - E3 Oxx (replace the xx with your initials!!) They're pretty cheap!!

I am trying to buy E30 NEW , it is on a sad old cavalier estate. I offered the c*ck that owns it Ԛ£200 which i thought was very fair bearing in mind i had to take a 'E' plate chavvy to liberate the plate. He thinks it's worth more , i'm waiting for the council type to get behind on his argos payments and i will pounce !

you do know that to get the plate transfered off the car, it has to have full MOT, tax and insurance. so buying a rusty old mk2 cav for the plate means you would have to shell out all teh cash to get it back on the road before getting the plate.
and hes right, it is worth more than 200quid

Always buy from DVLA - prices are inclusive and that's gotta be where other dealers get plates from - i've certainly never seen anywhere that works out cheaper!!

nearly right, it does have to be MOT'd, but it doesn't matter if it's only got 1 day left, same with the tax, but it doesn't need to be insured unless you plan to re-tax it at the same time, same with the recipient car.
Did one a while back for a guy at work, had a week to run on the MOT so we re-taxed it, went to the DVLA local office and swapped it off. The car had long before been crushed, but he still had the documents, so he could get the plate off.

your both nearly right!
The car does not have to be taxed either! it can be on SORN (max 12 months) it needs to be MOT'd, all cars now over 15 years old
WILL NEED TO BE INPECTED BY THE DVLA !

Fair enough!
The one I mentioned was done about May last year and was coming off a 89 G-reg 320iSE and at the time I'm sure the rules at the time were that the car had to be taxed, though there is every chance that this has changed since then.
The rule about all cars over 15 years old being inspected is a new one on me, though I fully believe you, and worth remembering since it will affect just about anyone on here with a cherished plate. Good job they didn't want to do that last year as the vehicle in question probably looked more like a coffee table than a car

The 15 year rule came in about May this year, i had to go through the inspection to get the plate off my 318iS when i sold it recently.
But i know not all regions are implementing the inspection...

In Glasgow they can't be doing this as I took my plate off in August when the car was over 17yrs old. Not even a hint of an inspection.

Perhaps the DVLA just don't like the English!
