respray in progress part II

Well folks its been a very frustrating few months to say the least. Got the a full respray end of last year(i think my thread is still on here somewhere with pics) and recently i have started to see just how bad the job was done. What really took the biscuit is the paint started "flakeing off" on both arches!?! It also had shit loads of over spray and the amount of filler this dude used was something else. I suppose i asked for it really but we wont go into that

Now its in the very capable hands of the Di-Natek crew and boy i cant wait to have it back completed and looking like a totally different car! Im getting it done in Jet black again and havin it de-badged and having something else done but i shall show you all in good time! winkeye

Heres a few pics of the work done so far. First 2 pics are of it on the day i gave it in

Dont want to hype it up to much but its a nice touch which dont totally transform the look of the e30 but adds to its character and stays in line with the euro look

Mate Im sure thats gonna look phat when its done, especially liking the fact that your refurbing your old wheels. I almost regret not taking them off your hands when you were selling them that time. I'm sure I'll be kicking myself once you post pics of them done! I also quite like the gold BBS - think they go well with the black.

Hope it all goes well dude!

Hi mate,

Projects coming along ok. Had the conversion to a 2.5 with sports gearbox, 3.91 lsd, recaro leathers, anti roll bars to go on next week winkeye

But similarly to you I need the bodywork sorting out now. The rust keeps staring me in the face! Hope to be able to afford to get in done before christmas. Got a guy in coventry where i used to be a student who should be able to do the work, hopefully at mates rates too. The car is also solid black and looks like a 318iS minus the rear spoiler and has chrome window surrounds. Eventually plan to get my BBS diamond cut with polished lip.

Good luck with the respray. Sounds like its in the right hands!

Ooooh quite abit to come from you then.Sounds wicked! Next on list for me is LSD and a sports gearbox and get some work done to the head and sort the internals out. Want to stick with the M20 and squeeze as much power as i can out of it! Should have got that done first before the respray really but i just couldnt stand driving around in a "resprayed" motor that looks quite frankly...SHIT!
Hope all goes well for you bud and in a few months you will have what you are aiming for...a schweeet e30.

So far got the side repeaters smoothed, passenger side lock smoothed over.Have told him today i want the ariel smoothed over to! Keeping the driver side lock just incase i end up needing it. Lots of rubbing down going on and driver side rear quater was signs of rust trying to penertrate the body which will need to be treated ASAP as it was not done on the previous spray job! Hope the pics are ok.

I was under the impression that if you have side repeaters then they must be in working order.

If you dont have any side repeaters then there is nothing to fail you on sort of thing?

The side strips had a bit welded in and then filled.

What do the F1 style mirrors look like . I was looking at the M3 style ones with the repeters in but I think you look abit crap I might get some just to fit for the mot and then remove after .

Dont want to be a kill joy but i fail an mot with not the orginal side repeaters on the car. I had smoothed them and put DTM wing mirrors on my old scort with the repeaters in.

The test station said if car originaly fitted with side repeaters needs to have them fitted for the mot. And he was a mate who passed it on other things as long as i i paid him to fix it.

Well we shall have to see what happens. I will probably just take it to my mates garage and have him look over it. You are probably right...repeaters are needed for MOT but i like the look of no repeaters damn it!

By the way im having the washer jets on the bonnet smoothed over and relocated as well now. winkeye
